Just looked at the box score. From Lou's defensive stats to the TO's the statistician sees the game a bit different than I've seen it. They have more than 5 TO's and I don't see how Lou doesn't get credited with any blocks. I know of 2 for sure.

It's only credited as a block if it leaves the offensive player's hand. Learned that after Kelly's game where Frank thought he had a lot more than 3 blocks.

I don't believe Wally has touched the floor tonight. Injured or bad week at practice?

What was up with Wally not playing hardly at all?

And, Nick Russell getting minutes kinda early?

Anyway, nice win. Can't wait for Saturday.

ChiefsNWildcats 02-23-2010 11:47 PM

Glad to see Russell getting in on the action some. He's the one I worry about transfering due to playing time.

Dante84 02-24-2010 01:51 AM

I was thinking about it tonight. What will our starting line up look like next year?

G- Pullen
G- Irving/Russel?
F- Sutton/Samuels/Judge?
F- CK/Judge/Samuels?
C- JHR/Aspirilla(sp?)?

Or will we start with a three guard set? or a three forward set? Hmm....

WilliamTheIrish 02-24-2010 07:05 AM

Our lineup will "look" significantly slower. That's about all I can tell you.

Dante84 02-26-2010 01:24 AM

I think I want a 2 seed with Duke or Purdue(if they can hang on to a 1 with their all star out) as our 1 seed.

I'd also like to play in OKC. I wonder if those two things are possible?

I think they're very possible. Win 2 of our last 3 games (KU @ Allen, assuming we don't get blown out), and I think we have a 2 seed locked up. And considering the top 2 seeds in each region get "protected," we'd likely be sent to OKC for the first 2 rounds.

Hell, we win all the rest of our games (@ Allen & win the Big 12 tourney) and we're probably talking about a 1 seed. I don't expect it, but I didn't expect to be talking about a 2 seed this late in the year, either.

I think Asprillasaurus starts at C and McGruder starts at SG. But I'm still thinking about March of 2010 rather than 2011 right now.

sedated 02-26-2010 11:00 AM

with the big east matchups coming up, and purdue having their best player go down for the year, KSU has a legit shot at a #1 seed.

Dante84 02-26-2010 12:38 PM

I forgot about McGruder in my previous post, good catch.

We would have to jump Duke, and I just don't see Duke losing until the ACC tourney, if even then. Couple that with our Lawrence game....

For historical and bragging purposes, I would love a 1 seed. This year, though, tactically speaking, I would like to stay close to home(OKC) and the only way to do that is with the #2 seed. Also, if that is the case, and Duke/Purdue are the #1 seed in our bracket, I think we are the(my) favorite to win from our region.

kstater 02-27-2010 09:22 PM

Rare instant analysis from kstater(not Kstater you fools): Wally Judge is not a Wildcat next year. 2 seed locked up.

kstater 02-27-2010 09:36 PM

KU fans won't like this. Outside chance at 1 seed AND OKC in play now. Win in Lawrence then Mizzou beats KU brings it into play. Syracuse rolling brings them to 1, KU and UK to 2/3 going into tomorrow.

I don't think it should change, honestly. Purdue should drop because they are not as good without their best player. They should also lose to Michigan State.
KU, UK, Syracuse, Duke, KState as I see it.

If we win Wednesday?

UK, Syracuse, KU, Kstate, Duke

kstater 02-27-2010 09:54 PM

Point is, it's not unusual for a top 6 team to play their freshmen limited minutes. And I've never heard a negative word from Judge about his situation. He'll get a bunch of minutes next season, as growth from freshman to soph season is typically significant.

This. He knew what was coming when he decided to play for Frank, that he would probably have to sit for a majority (if not all) of his freshman year. I don't think Wally is too pissed that he's not playing (at least not to the point of transferring).

I figure Duke and K-State will be awfully close.

I'd put Syracuse at #1, Kansas #2, Kentucky #3. I figure the #1 votes will be spread amongst those 3.

Saulbadguy 03-01-2010 11:19 AM

Syracuse is No. 1 in The Associated Press' Top 25, taking advantage of a weekend when the poll's top three teams lost.

The Orange were the runaway top pick Monday, receiving 59 first-place votes from the national media panel to make the jump from fourth. This is their first time on top since a six-week run during the 1989-90 season.

Kansas, which had the other six first-place votes, dropped to second following its loss at Oklahoma State. Kentucky, which has the same 27-2 record as the two teams above it, dropped one place after losing at Tennessee.

Duke was fourth followed by Kansas State, Ohio State and Purdue, which fell from third to seventh after losing to Michigan State.

Texas, which was No. 1 for two weeks in January, fell out of the Top 25 after losing for the seventh time in 12 games.

Nice. Keep us updated. Can't wait to see Arthur and Chris on the field at the same time (and hopefully Bryce too, even though we probably don't need a lot of RB help).

I know our basketball team is kicking ass, but I can't friggin wait for football.

Speaking of which, would anyone else rather have a 2 seed than a 1?

I've been debating this for two weeks now, but i can't find anyone to engage me in this convo.

I am torn.

For the 1: Historically, this would be awesome. To be a one seed is a very, very special thing, and is remembered after all is done, regardless of tourney outcome. A nice recruiting tool, and a fancy label to attach to the team. We don't get to play in OKC, though. That's KU - unless the tides turn in the most ridiculous way ever.

For the 2: We would most likely play in OKC for rounds one and two. Also, there is a possibility that there will be a soft 1 seed (Duke) and we may end up in the same bracket. I think we can roll Duke.

I just can't decide.

While I understand what you are saying, you should take a few minutes to look at this:

http://rotoguru2.com/hoop/mad/seedwl.html

It shows the history of all matchups in the tourney based on seed and round up through last years tourney. A good example of wanting that better seed is the Sweet 16 matchups...assuming all teams play to seed....1 vs. 4 & 2 vs. 3.

1 vs 4: There have been a total of 36 games. #1 seed is 27-9 with a 75% winning percentage.

2 vs 3: There have been a total of 33 games. #2 seed is 21-12 with a 64% winning percentage.

Always want the higher seed. It increases the chances of moving on and in the tournament teams need all the help they can get.

I can tell you this. Bryce isn't going anywhere until the end of this semester. Unless Dooley knocks his socks off, I'd say it's 60-40 that Bryce ends up in Manhattan. Why?

1. Arthur and family are pushing him....hard. They are a tight family. I think the experience of having to miss a lot of their kids college experience has been tough on the parents.

2. Daniel Thomas graduates after this season. Bryce could sit out this year and be The Man in the 2011 season. That certainly appeals to him and his family.

3. I know that Saul discounts this, but Bryce was tight with the KSU staff. If HCBS had never left, we probably would have had both of the Brown kids from the get go.

I think D Rob will RS this year and take his totes in 2011 as well. Should be a great competitive atmosphere in the backfield if Bryce ends up in Purple.

Dante84 03-03-2010 11:09 PM

Okay.

We lost. Duke lost.

What happens to the 4th 1 seed? Is it up for grabs between 4-7 teams (duke, nova, us, purdue, wvu, ohio state, msu) and will depend on conference tourney champs?

and... what are the percentage chance of remaining contenders of grabbing the 4th 1 seed?

Running Back U?

And I'm disappointed about the loss, but expected it for the most part. I think our guys/Frank would really like to get them (at least) one more time on a neutral court.

As far as the #1 seed goes, I think our loss hurts a lot less than Dukes (and lol @ Maryland for rushing the court), and we're still in the running. But we [probably] have to win the Big 12 tournament, which is a pretty tall order as we saw tonight.

We lost.

I think we'd have to make some noise in the Big XII Tournament, and Duke would have to lose in the ACC tournament early. JMO. I don't think you will see the others compete for a 1 seed unless something weird happens, it's between us and Duke.

Oddly enough, Lunardi now has you guys moving up to the #1 seed in the west despite losing by 17 last night.

Looks like its a case of "who is the least bad". Purdue looked good for a while, but now its hard to imagine them getting a #1 seed after losing Robbie Hummel for the year. Duke lost to a lower-ranked team than KSU, so Lunardi pretty much just looked at the stats and gave the wildcats the slight nod for now.

However, he has Duke (50%) listed as the best chance to get the last #1 given the remaining schedule, with K-State at 40%, and Purdue at 30%

ChiTown,

Any "rumblings" of any goings on today, or this weekend?
