Not really liking this signing - paying LT money to a RT who gets drive killing penalties nearly every game and who simply isn't a shutdown tackle.

Dante84 12-04-2023 12:35 PM

He's obviously talented, but is this guy just stupid, or what?

How do you lead the entire league in penalties as a RT? I know there was a 2-week span where he was watched like a hawk by the refs, unfairly. But still.

RunKC 12-04-2023 12:41 PM

He's being targeted obviously. Lane Johnson is taking off earlier than him every game but no call on that guy?

And I saw the Packers hold Karlaftis a handful of times and it got called once. They also had hands to the face on Danna on the long Love pass completion.

Those mothe****ers straight up tackled Karlaftis preventing a sack and no call was made but Taylor apparently holding an OL 10 yards away from the play that had nothing to do with the play at ****ing all.

Pure bullshit

Mahomes has had more time to throw than I've ever seen in the past. Not even the Jets got got that much heat on Patrick. All our struggles came from our receivers' lack of separation. Yes, the penalties are bad but the play calling is lackluster as well. This is not Playoff Chief Football. This is week four and we're trying to get a feel for the young guys football.

Trust me, when the offense destroys the much lesser secondary of the Vikings all will be well. We won't see a more talented defense the Jets fielded. (That is largely because the Jets likely will miss the Playoffs.)

One of the more intelligent posts I've seen here in a long time. Pretty much summed it up

Yep. Way overpaid for what the Chiefs are getting at this point.

I know refs are gonna miss some blatant ones and call some weak ones, but it seems the Chiefs have been on the wrong end of that all season.

You can see the talent, he moves well and has solid if maybe not elite strength. He's a below-par run blocker and I'm not sure that's changing, and the cost always seemed a lot to me, even when he was reportedly switching to LT.

But the penalties, he's got to get this figured out. You simply can't dump that much money into a position that becomes a penalty magnet. I'm not sure it's fair right now he's a problem.

yeah the penalties are huge problem. last night they showed on the broadcast that our Oline leads the league in penalties and Taylor is himself responsible for half of those penalties. granted he was getting singled out but still he needs to get those under control

Yes exactly! I just don't understand all the complaints about the tackles. The receivers aren't getting separation so mahomes holds the ball longer. It leads to holding from time to time but imagine obj and willey back there with these receivers. Yuck.

This of course is the reason I can't be too mad at Taylor for all the penalties

did you watch the game last night? or any game this season? Taylor and Smith suck. the receivers are the biggest problem with the offense, but the tackles are not too far behind.

The penalties from the tackles are killers.

Mahomes can prevent yardage loss plays from would-be sacks or pressure given up… he did that with OBJ and Wylie last year.

He can’t prevent yardage loss plays when they come from penalties.

The Chiefs remind me of my mom when she had a great recipe. Kept experimenting until the dish sucked.

You are very close to the truth here:thumb: Reid/Veach have over analyzed things here from all different aspects.

Even before this year he's been a penalty guy. Every other year in his career he has double digit penalties in a season. He has the same number of penalties the last 2 years than Wylie has in his whole career or OBJ has in his whole career. He averages 10.2+ a season. This is just who he is.
