I never said that. But I don't think it's such a big deal that he's gone. The stability and success we've had the past 4 years I credit mostly to Reid. He's the guy turning chicken shit to chicken salad. If Mahomes pans out, I won't give 3 ****s about Dorsey. He's been the #3 guy in charge since he got here. I'm not going to lose sleep over losing him and much as if we had lost Reid.

If it's all Reid and his coaching then why did the Eagles roster go to shit at the end of his tenure? That roster was absolutely awful.

It's like you are completely ignoring what Dorsey did with this roster and giving all the credit to Reid. Nobody is saying Reid didn't coach it up, but the talent was actually there for him to do it. That's because of Dorsey.

I just don't understand.

By the limited information we have, it could have played out like this. :hmmm:

Clark planned to extend Both Big Red and Dorsey. Andy signed his contract while Dorsey drug his feet, with an eye towards Green Bay. Once the Reid contract was finalized, Clark said times up...pulled the extension to Dorsey allowing him to pursue the Green Bay GM job, dictated a hastily written letter to his secretary and quickly emailed it to panicked season ticket holders.

Among issues I've heard #Chiefs brass had with John Dorsey: Didn't get some big deals done early (e.g. Houston, Berry). Cost them more later

I could see Berry because Paylor said last year that Dorsey was hung up on the medical insurance part of the contract and it really cost them. But with Houston I don't blame dorsey. Houston would have been a fool to sign early.

This is why our GMs never draft first round QBs. Penalty is swift termination.

Probably a lot of tension since the Mahomes pick.

Only way there'd be tension is if Mahomes looked like a complete bust in camp.

The only thing I can think of is the Green Bay situation which would make sense

Or recent events -- Maclin? -- pissed off Clark?

Clark wouldn't have risked losing Reid and Dorsey. If Reid was pissed, he wouldn't have signed his contract extension. Reid had to be okay with it. If Reid and Dorsey had a falling out over cutting Maclin, we're screwed. Shows Reid too sentimental.

Petro at 810 reporting that Clark did an organizational evaluation from top to bottom ... and Dorsey did not merit a new deal. New GM will not be announced by Chiefs until training camp starts.

Maybe Clark saw the Maclin situation as the "last straw" in Dorsey's ineffectiveness in managing the salary cap... the fact the Chiefs didn't have enough salary cap room to sign their draft picks and that Dorsey was unable to create additional salary cap room earlier in the offseason by trading Maclin or making other moves... which prompted the sudden/messy move to release Maclin.
