Luke spent half a movie getting clowned by a muppet.

Then he had to spend another half of a movie getting clowned by this power fantasy character.

It's true...Rey is a very weak protagonist because she hasn't suffered. Luke suffered. A LOT.

That's why Kylo Ren is the most interesting character in the sequels. He actually suffers.

Strangely, I think a lot of people are rooting for him.

I root for him to die. He's the crappiest villain since the midget in Ender's Game.

Right. As it stands, she’s lived about 60-70 years with no legit force training.

That scene was just horseshit.

After "Jedi" Luke never trained her do anything other than float?

Forget the SJW/Political stuff, the film just didn't make sense. They never should have picked "Reboot-rabi" for one and "Round-Head Ryan" for two.

Whomever you pick give them the trilogy and make a cohesive story. When you have more than one QB you have no QB...

Emo teen Vader sucked as a villain. I'll never forget my disappointment when they finally showed him without his mask on. Goofy Paul from Wonder Years looking dweeb.

Everybody alludes imperial soldiers. It's the oldest star wars joke in the book

Luke was a farmer, yet successfully fought off fully trained tie pilots and used the force to successfully target a improbable hole in the deathstar with about 12 seconds of training.

Star Wars hasn't changed, you have.

It is alluded to that Luke was a redneck that basically spent his life shooting things, fixing crap, and racing. Considering things like the Tusken Raiders existed on his home planet. I am pretty sure he was at least a decent shot if even an excellent one by the time he left Tattoine.

At the start of TFA they had me. Kylo stopped that blaster shot and held it. WTF?

At that point they had me. I was in.

Then the film just made him less and less as it went on and diminished that moment.

THAT part I was ok with. I was expecting that to be the twist. These two odd kids having all this power.

That would have been a good story. The castoff vs. the genetic prodigy...

The fan base wanted Luke, Han and Leia to have one last adventure together and it didn't happen.

Not really.

The villains paled in comparison to Tarkin and Vader, the space fight scenes didn't hit the same notes, Rey didn't have Luke's likeability and the whole thing felt too calculated.

I would love a clean reboot where Anakin is the embodiment of Indiana Jones ( besides a Light saber he uses a blaster as a crutch at times ) and not necessarily the chosen one when it comes to Force power. overall he becomes the chosen one through his cunning, determination, and toughness and not shear Force power . I would Batman the shit out of Anakin Skywalker.

See he's not really intended to be a villain, though.

You're not meant to hate his character.

He's a victim of circumstances, timing and bad influences.

He has a lot of layers and that makes him an interesting character.

The ST isn't as black and white as the OT. The only dudes who are one note villains are Snoke and Hux, and they weren't/aren't really interesting at all. Kind of like Rose. One-note hero and a total waste of screen time.

You can't make another trilogy focusing on characters like that because we already saw it. What would be the point?

And this is why I actually loved TLJ so much. Luke is a somewhat different character and is far, far more interesting than if we had just gotten "i'm a really GREAT guy and i'm here to save you all!!!" Luke again. But at the end of the movie, he becomes that original character we liked so much again.

I just wish they had handled Rey's character a little better.

Whether he's a villain or a confused punk, I despise him. I don't identify with him, or feel his pain, or care why he is the way he is. He just sucks. He's an angry toddler with force powers.

God they ruined Star Wars. I agree with Tribal - the only saving move is to kick Kennedy and her lackeys to the curb, pretend these last two episodes never happened, and do a complete reboot. And sadly that won't happen.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2018 01:25 AM

Don't pretend like it couldn't be worse.

Kylo is just as bad as prequel Anakin. Hell, he might be a little worse.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2018 12:45 PM

Bullshit. At least the acting is good and you buy his motivations and progression as a character.

You just don’t like him because he’s not Vader II.

You’re missing the point. He’s not intended to be. That was Snoke’s role.

You’re not supposed to fear Kylo. He’s an empathetic character who is probably going to end up a tragic hero.

Come on, now.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2018 12:51 PM

Anakin was poorly performed and his character arc wasn’t even believable .
