If we can re-sign Ingram, I like the idea of looking for value in the draft at the interior spot next to Jones. If Jaran Reed had been close to his best self, our line would likely have been far more effective last year. Can't become to tunnel vision on the edge. Interior pressure always helps give the outside guys better opportunities. Of course, we'll still want to find some depth at Edge wherever you can find it in the draft. Danna has exceeded expectations for a backup DE...and I'm bullish on Kaindoh as a part of the rotation.

Clowney is likely looking for the long-term home/bag. Maybe the Rams provide that after losing the Miller sweepstakes/bidding war.
And I know people on here don’t like him. And I know he’s an awkward fit for a team that is asking Frank Clark to be at least a rotational guy. But he was pretty good for the Browns last year. He’s a guy who can be a really good #2 pass rusher/DL guy. He played last year for 1/$8M. Swap him and Jarran Reed (would have had to find a few more $$ to do it) and I think the Chiefs’ season ends different. I would be excited to give him the big deal/bag or anything, but if the price/term is again right, it’s something to consider. |

If the Chiefs somehow end up with a guy like DeVonte Wyatt, they can easily have the best interior pass rush in the division. |

It was 810 and some “expert” they had on. Was through tunein so not 100% sure it was live or a few hours old. |
Get Hunter! Probably gonna take our 1st this year and a conditional pick next year based on production but get back their 46th pick this year. Maybe get Sam Williams at 46?

Clark, (Wyatt/Leal), Jones, Ingram + (Bonito/Malone/Isaiah/Barno) + Danna & Kaindoh Wyatt: https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/...att-DT-Georgia Leal: https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/...-DL-TexasAANDM Ingram would be pretty cheap and the above allows us to spend our potential $34m in cap space after restructure/extensions elsewhere. |
Yeah let’s trade our first for a DE who had a neck injury and then a torn pec. Nevermind that he’ll want another ****ing contract.
****ing stupid. |
Everybody from the offense that’s good is going to be back. The only guy I’d like to have back that’s not under contract is Pringle and that’s if he’s cheap and ok being the #4 WR.
On defense, we are only down one substantial player (Ward) after replacing Tyrann. Ingram will be brought back or upgraded and nobody is going to miss Hitchens or Neimann. Haven’t heard Nnadis name in any tweets, so we can probably bring him back for cheap if we want. |

the best example. His very first pick. I love Veach but daddy gots a flaw that needs a fixin |
Why are we faulting Kaindoh for his rookie year? Were you expecting a raw, fourth round rookie to come in and light it up?
Also, I assume Spags is also signing off on these moves so why isn’t he shouldering some of this blame? |

This offseason could make or break him there though. Having Joe Cullen will help. |

I’m looking at this season as a mini reset. Use this as an opportunity to get younger and build depth. Let some contracts go next season.
This team is going to live and die by its offense anyways. Get a WR like Juju this offseason, along with a couple of younger DEs that fit what you want to do (Key for example). Go into the draft and build your defense using those picks in the top 100. Use your 7th rounders to grab guys that could be UDFAs that you might be interested in. This team is too talented how it is now to go 4-13. We’re going to be in the playoffs more than likely. At that point anything can happen. Kelce will be back next year. Our defense will have more depth and be younger. |

I’m just bitter is all. Would love to see a homegrown DE hit. |

Our DL has been saved by a mid season miracle the last few years with guys like Suggs, Ingram and Pennell.
It’s crazy that our DL isn’t a completely dominant unit with how much we’ve invested in that position group the last 5 years. Jones - 2nd round pick and big contract Clark - 1st and third rounders and a huge contract Nnadi - 3rd round pick Saunders - 3rd round pick KPass - 2nd round pick Speaks - 2nd round pick Kaindoh - 4th round pick A first, 3 seconds, 3 thirds and a fourth in draft picks and 250 million dollars. We are due a couple home run picks on the DL. |

I love Brett Veach. I love that we got him in the 6th. I love that we pulled the trigger when others wouldn’t. But I can’t pretend he was a gem we “found” in the 6th. He was 1st/2nd round talent who had/has a scary blood clotting condition. We had the luxury of saying “**** it” and pulled the trigger. |

Fulton Tyreek Sneed Fenton Allegreti Trey Danna That’s good useage if picks after the third round. |
Bills have had the same problem. They’ve drafted 2 2nds and 1st on the DEs and still gave von Miller the moon. The odds are against any rookie coming in and lighting it up his first year. And we need dline now.
Hunter had 27 pressures and 6 sacks in 5 games after his neck injury and then he tore his Pec which should be fine. And hunter is 27. Von Miller had 41 pressures & 9.5 sacks all of last year. Von Miller is 32. Go get Hunter. His contract is good too. He should cost less than $15M against the cap each year for the next 3 years. He’s worth the risk. Quote:

Anyone remember Duane Clemons? There's another DE we got from the Vikings. I always thought he was underrated. Wasn't all-pro level by any means, but he got a bad rap because the defenses he played on were pretty bad. I'd take him over his teammate Eric Hicks.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned trading for Montez Sweat I don't know what it would take to get him but he's better than broke dick Hunter

From the ESPN article:
Since Veach was promoted to GM in 2017, the Chiefs' major free-agent signings or trade acquisitions had one thing in common when they arrived in Kansas City: their age. Receiver Sammy Watkins was 24 when he joined the Chiefs. Linebacker Anthony Hitchens was 25, Mathieu himself was 26. Defensive end Frank Clark was 25, offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. 24. Joe Thuney was 28 but as an offensive linemen, he can be expected to play well into his 30s. In many cases, those players replaced aging stars. Hitchens replaced Derrick Johnson. Mathieu replaced Eric Berry, Clark replaced Justin Houston, Brown replaced Eric Fisher. |

He’s been great for Washington. |
I would assume Sweat would cost a 2nd? Maybe a 4th next year as well.

Quote:
2m base this year and 5th year option next year. Probably easy to get an early extension done with him, too. To me, that option goes to the top of the list…too bad Washington won’t likely deal him. |
I bet the run on WRs start today. I hope we get JuJu

If I wanted to swing big for a pass rusher it’s Josh Allen

He produced in Pittsburgh, sure. Because he got #1 targets on #2 attention and that just doesn't happen very often. That said, I was anti-JuJu when he was going to cost the same as other options I liked far more. Those options have since dried up. So as far as remaining options go, I suppose JuJu would be my preferred choice as well. With the caveat that I'd be looking to layer him every chance I got... |
Quote:
Guess he needs a 4th year in the same team with the same coach and a worse QB situation to prove that he wasn't a fluke... |

Has Clark really only been here for 3 years? Feels like 10... |
So we’re willing to bring Tyrann back now?

You sure about that? JuJu is actually a pretty poor fit out of the slot, IMO. He's just not quick enough to use the space to his advantage. And it's harder to out-physical guys from that spot because they typically line up off the LOS so you can't get into their body before they're able to establish position. I don't think he's a good slot option at all really. He really should spend the majority of his time outside. |

Could be a very good two high, Thornhill+Reid, scheme with HB being in the box as that lb/s hybrid. Could work but money probably can’t |
Quote:

If the money was right, Id bring back Tyrann.
Imagine what Spags could cook up with those three Safeties. QBs would have no idea whos doing what, until its to late! |
Don’t think HB will take Sorensen money
|
Quote:
I think playing in the slot as much as he has the last few years is part of his problem. He just doesn't have the necessary skill-set for it, IMO. If he were bigger and could body guys off, great. If he were quicker and could beat them into space, also great. But he's a tweener in that regard. He needs to be out wide where he can utilize leverage and be schemed open a bit better. That's just easier to do out there where you don't have the morass in the middle. Which kind of gets me back to where I started with him - I'm just not sure he's very good. I struggle to find things he truly does well. |
Quote:
Think of how mouthy that dude was last season. And how prone to showing up his teammates. Now make him a rotational player who has to play 'behind' Justin Reid. Tell me he's going to take well to that. I wouldn't want him back on the minimum. This roster needs a TON of change including at key leadership positions (part of my frustration with bringing back Clark). The Bring Shit Back tour isn't a good plan at all. |
I hope everyone realizes that we can restructure contracts anytime we want. Just Friday is the deadline so looks like we won’t be doing anything in free agnecy
|
Quote:
You can't restructure bonuses that haven't been earned yet. Two biggest bonuses on the team are roster bonuses that don't trigger until the start of the league year. i.e. you cannot restructure those bonuses until the start of the league year. Just go sit in a corner or something. |
Quote:
In fact we signed a good young Safety already... |
Quote:
The knee-jerk signings at the start of free agency seem to flop more often than they pan out. KC hasn't missed out on any world-beaters that would fill a significant need. Veach isn't sitting at home and pulling his pecker, he definitely has a plan that doesn't involve doing nothing and saying, "**** it". |
Yeah I’m sure a team that only has 27 dudes on the roster is just going to sit out of FA.
Sign big names? Probably not. But they aren’t sitting out of shit. |
Quote:
But I'm with you on the not sure if he's any good comment. He's had an exceptional season in 2018, a decent season in 2020 and the rest are clunkers. I'm not sure why anyone thinks we should be chasing him other than he's young. I'd much rather have a bigger body in Robinson, who besides last year has produced his entire career with dogshit QB's. |
Quote:
I just don’t think he’s coming here and we probably won’t be able to afford him. I could be wrong though. Maybe they’re saving up all of their FA cap space to get Robinson and then this defense is going to be draft picks and smaller deals for hopefully ascending players. And the talk about Juju all stems from last year when we almost had him. |

It's a fair point to say they can be demonstrative of a good season, but they're not predictive. I mean Julio Jones used to get blasted for not having many red zone TDs and I can't think of a guy more suited to that task than he is. By and large they're a product of usage. I don't think they demonstrate a meaningful skill set on their own. 6 of JuJu's 9 TDs came from inside 10 yards in 2020. Meanwhile Julio Jones had 5 of them in his first 4 seasons vs 26 overall. And I don't think anyone would argue that JuJu is a better red zone threat than peak Julio. They may give an okay snapshot of what someone did - but not a very good data point for determining what they will do going forward. Like QB passing TDs in the red zone, they're just super volatile and there seems to be no predictive value to them. By and large players regress to the mean. It's white noise, IMO. |
I would probably be okay with giving Juju a 3 year deal for around $25-26 million. Something with a lowish cap hit in year 1 and an out after year 2. That gives him some security but allows him to hit the market again at around 28 years old after he's built up his value here.

So you're probably right. Corry: Quote:

Byron Pringle is a damn physical WR. Why do you think he's been so valued on special teams? Pringle has never shied away from contact and in fact some of his most impressive moments have been when he's shown a willingness to get blasted to complete the play. I don't think Pringle is more than a JAG really, but I also don't think it's fair to say he's not a physical player. That's really one of his top selling points. |
Getting Robinson sounds like it's too good to come true. Getting JuJu for less would be a fine addition

Especially if that 'out' after year 2 isn't really a foregone conclusion. If it's a deal that provides us year 1 cap relief and a meaningful team option in year 3 instead of one of those 'oh yeah, he's getting cut there' years. That way we can see if he can rediscovery his form here in year 1, maybe eat a little shit in year 2 if he can't before cutting him prior to year 3 OR get some really nice benefits from him in that third year if he CAN recapture his early career success. |
Quote:
Offer him that three year deal and it gives him the security of having a place for the next two years. He'll be an in an offense with a legit QB and other weapons to help open him up. Plus a HC that's known for maximizing potential. |
I have to do the double read every time anyone mentions signing Robinson…
I think to myself, Demarcus?! WTF?! Then re-read. Oh Allen! Good deal! |
