That's fair. Bill will surely let the perimeter defense fall off a cliff anytime now.

Good to see Remy getting some solid minutes tonight...

Fran is calling the game? Yikes...

This is pretty cool watching these angles and such... Especially with zero broadcasters...

Reerun_KC 03-11-2022 06:54 PM

On the inbound.. Dixon and Bruan shook hands, that was cool to see the sportsmanship...

Dixon gave him a good game pat....

Nice half for the Hawks.

KC_Connection 03-11-2022 06:57 PM

KU hasn't been tight in this one like the past two, but that was not the best end to the half. I'm usually in favour of the 2 for 1, but I don't think 40 seconds is enough time for that at this level. Just ended up with 2 garbage shots instead of 1 good one there with guys who aren't exactly adept at making garbage shots.

The most notable difference in this game vs the past two against these guys... Seems like TCU is playing the way KU did the first two games... Tense and pressing.

Turns out TCU can't stop the KU offense when KU is not playing super nervous. They're back to the way they played for most of February.

I'd agree.

They were aggressive against UT.

They're pressing here.

That was one of the more obvious charge calls on Lampkin I've seen all year and it was called a block on Braun

KC_Connection 03-11-2022 07:11 PM

Lampkin grabs McCormack on the rebound there and also gets no call...refs are helping TCU get back in this.

Yeah, shit call.

And then McCormack does dumb things.

Buehler445 03-11-2022 07:12 PM

Damn. Theyre heating up.

KC_Connection 03-11-2022 07:13 PM

Refs don't call the obvious goaltend now. That's about 6 points they've gifted them now in 3 minutes.

Buehler445 03-11-2022 07:14 PM

So they're just not calling charges then?

Reerun_KC 03-11-2022 07:14 PM

3 quick fouls on Kansas.... Very questionable calls

Buehler445 03-11-2022 07:16 PM

Finally a charge.

Pretty ballsy of Harris to set up for the cheapies he got early and their unwillingness to call a charge.

Nice half for the Hawks.

That's really cool Jamie Dixon seems like a decent guy. I don't know why but I've always liked him. And Mike Boyton. Other big 12 coaches like Scott drew, Huggins, or Bruce weber are **** sticks as far as I'm concerned.

Huggy doesn’t bother me. Dixon is a great coach. Bouton will be good in time.

The rest like you said can punt a kitten.

Reerun_KC 03-11-2022 07:22 PM

Oh Remy. That was nasty.

Buehler445 03-11-2022 07:23 PM

Lzen 03-11-2022 07:28 PM

Mitch has made 3 pointers on the past. He just doesn't have the green light from Bill.

smithandrew051 03-11-2022 07:29 PM

Has any team in NCAA history had this much tenure in 3 bench players? Lightfoot, JCL, and Remy. Isn't that like 18 years combined?

Buehler445 03-11-2022 07:35 PM

Got sloppy as shit.

That last 4 minutes was terrible.

Pablo 03-11-2022 07:42 PM

Welp, still plenty of time to lose by 20. Just hope Bill can coach 'em up and the guys can hold onto this lead.

Talent & Coaching University still has a chance.

Buehler445 03-11-2022 07:51 PM

The intensity is certainly out, but overall a really good performance by everybody except maybe McCormack.

Reerun_KC 03-11-2022 08:04 PM

Best game in a long time. Nice work folks.

KC_Connection 03-11-2022 08:05 PM

When KU isn't playing nervous like they were last week, their offense is a force to deal with. #1 seed probably wrapped up tonight.

I also haven't seen Remy play with that kind of confidence since the beginning of the season. Could be a useful piece off the bench if we need instant offense in the tournament.

We have unreal experience off the bench in Remy, Lightfoot, and JCL. I think that’s a very underrated part of this team.

And other than his ole play when his guy crashed from the corner he wasn’t totally worthless on D.

KC_Connection 03-11-2022 10:43 PM

The refs let Tech get away with murder because they foul on every possession. Time to prepare for a football game tomorrow.

smithandrew051 03-11-2022 10:44 PM

Tech escapes on a laughably bad foul call. Bring it on.

smithandrew051 03-11-2022 10:46 PM

I know Tech is better than OU, but I don’t mind avoiding the Groves brothers. They’re nothing special, but they really seem to have our numbers. The bearded one especially.

Tech is miles better than OU. They also don't play anything resembling basketball. Would have very much preferred the opposite outcome to that game because now it's going to be a chore to watch that horrible slog tomorrow.

Oh I know Tech is significantly better. They’re probably also better prep for the big tourney though. Can’t avoid good teams forever.

I don’t get how, but those goofy unathletic ****s play out of their minds against us. Im fine not playing them.

At least they don't bastardize the game of basketball.

Buehler445 03-11-2022 10:54 PM

Really wanted OU. They were playing good ball and I’d like to see them get in the big dance. Plus OU would be tired as all hell tomorrow.

Not looking forward to more rugby. But if we can play assignment sound defense they look like they can’t do a ton of creating. But we have to hold our own physically. We’ve been playing faster and looser, so if we can keep that up with our confidence up we should be OK. If we go to shit then we lose.

You don’t enjoy games played in the 50’s decided on what the refs last decide is a foul? Lol

smithandrew051 03-11-2022 10:56 PM

I’ll also add that OU missed several open looks early in that game to fall behind.

If we hit open shots and jump out, Tech’s style of play doesn’t lend itself to making comebacks. They need a slugfest to win.

Tech tends not to allow many open shots because they'll just grab you on every play without getting called for it.

Not my opinion. If Kentucky and Duke win their tournaments and we lose..... I could see the committee view Kentucky beating us at home and Coach K's last hurrah as the deciding factor to put us on the #2 line.

Yeah, can't say I've paid much attention to other teams this year, but I'm surprised Lunardi has UK on the 2 line at the moment. They don't really have any bad losses and of course convincingly beat Kansas on the road.

Looks like Duke has more questionable losses and then their conference run includes the 4th and 7th best teams in their conference... like you said, I think it would take some Coach K bias to push them to a #1 if both they and KU win.

I can see that also. Not out of the realm of possibility

We have to win today if we want a shot at the 1 line.

George Liquor 03-12-2022 09:43 AM

Just take care of business (basically) at home and you don't have to worry about anything.

smithandrew051 03-12-2022 09:51 AM

Win today locks a 1. No question. Baylor would have practically no strong claim to a 1 over us.

I’d like to avoid having Duke as our 2 seed in the tourney if it plays out. Can you imagine the calls K would get on his farewell tour with a Final Four on the line?

I've been down for 4 days with the flu. I've watched a lot of basketball, and I have to say, the Big 12 has offered the best basketball. Other than Iowa State and West Virginia.

I bitch about the rugby ball as much or more than anyone else, but in terms of offensive and defensive execution even the rugby ball is better. I watched a shitload of crap-sloppy offense, and horrible out of position defense. The TCU/KU game was probably the worst defensive rotation of the tournament contenders, and virtually every other tournament had major defensive errors at least that commonly.

And I have to say I'm really impressed with OU defensively. I've watched too many garbage OU teams stand around on D, but this team gave up virtually no easy shots. They're pretty down on talent, but they were really technically sound. And they're the 7th seed.

There is some shit basketball being played. Maybe it's familiarity, maybe it's too many games, but woof in terms of offensive and defensive execution, Big 12 is best, albeit a limited sample over a few days.

Sidenote: Woof Iowa State was bad.
