This is called Driftwood Lemonade. I had a bourbon friend turn me to this drink a few years ago. The Evan Williams 100 proof is my go-to affordable cocktail mixer. It's fantastic.
For lemon cocktails I don't think anything is better than San Pellegrino. It's great with just regular bourbon, black cherry whiskey or honey whiskey. 2oz bourbon 2oz triple sec 4oz lemonade https://i.imgur.com/byL8aAsh.jpg |
Ran into a ECBP C920 bottle today
Finna grab that neck pour after dinner |

I've never had the EC barrel proof but I've heard good things. |

I pulled the whole "neck pour" lingo off the Net to fit in with the cool crowd. Is that something you've experienced? Bourbon opens up more after there's more head space for O2 in the bottle. |
Quote:
Neck pour. You smooth mother****er!!!! Lots of guys talk about letting a bottle sit to expose it to oxygen and have it "open up." It's really not something that actually happens. It's mostly about your palate on the day you drink it. Notice how bourbon changes a ton depending on what you ate before drinking it? It's mostly that. |

I drink a lot less than I did even a year ago. Once I get through some bottles, I plan to only have PPLD picks after that as far as bourbon goes. Those guys know their shit. Best liquor store in the entire state. |

Just finished a bottle, Highly recommended

I always open a bottle, fill a flask, and sneak a taste before serving my friends a week or month later. I do not drink great whiskies alone.
I'd be a song who's lyrics we all know. |

Elijah Craig barrel proof is amazing stuff. There is certainly some batch variation but it's not major. One or two teaspoons of water will really open it up nicely.

If OTW ever returns to this thread and offers to send you some samples do it. He sent me some of the best stuff I've ever had particularly EH Taylor which unfortunately seems about as hard to get as Blantons. If you ever get to try Taylor do it at first it's a total mind **** because to me atleast had multiple flavors on first sip but an amazingly nice finish. |
Also Bearcat try Old Grandad. Not sure if it's an old fashion type of drink or not but that's the best $20 you're going to find and will definitely feel it after a couple.

Stedman's.....you still haven't tried it?

Anyone tried any of these I have a bottle from EC that is very tasty.

Sooo who's drunk RN?
|
Not me, I just took the scooter out for a "wake the **** up" ride at 40 degrees.
It's ****ing cold at a hundred I'm cooking a Cajun mix between jambalaya and red beans and rice. Kinda like jambalaya meat and veggies with soupy beans over rice. very ****ing hot. Smoking back rigs and beef and Italian sausage, and brat balls. Friends are sitting outside with a big screen, heater, wind block, 6 feet apart with the local bar bitch serving alcohol. There will be a couple of cops in the fold along with a doc and RN so I gotta play by the rules. That old fashioned syrup with cheap whisky is TASTY |

I love Scotch and Irish whisky too but bourbon not as much. There’s a few I like but I’ll always choose scotch or Irish whisky first If it’s available. A lot of bourbon has too much charcoal/smoke flavor for me. I hate smoky drinks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
You should try this, It's terrible

Lagavulin 12 is great too. Usually higher ABV. I also enjoy Caol Ila quite a bit. It's an Islay too but has more of an ashy vibe. It's weird to use those flavor descriptors in a positive way but that's about the only way to describe the flavor attraction. Once you figure out peated stuff, it's all gravy. |

I totally agree. Scotch has a bit of an advantage though in that it can be matured in lots of different types of casks versus bourbon, which has to be aged only in a first-use oak barrel.

Looks like lots of bonfires 62 degrees and calm winds. |
Lagavulin 11 and an old bottle of 2nd Shift rye barrel aged LSD. The beer is pretty long in the tooth but isn't totally shitty. Poor beer got hidden behind some other bottles on my shelves. Don't overage your beers, folks. Don't be a beer killer.

Special Reserve Overrated. Absolutely. Also why I’m using in a Manhattan. I love Weller antique though. |
I've had way to many Knob Creek small batches and Coke zero's tonight. I am not a huge fan of Knob Creek small batch but it was gifted at a project startup. It's a bit harsh for my pallet and I like some heat the finish is weak. But it works well with a coke mixer and is easily tamed with a splash of water. It was a big handle from Costco that they buy a case and hand out at startups. I am just happy it wasn't Jack Black that a staple for these things.
I guess I am sounding ungrateful the stuff just gives me an aggressive buzz for some reason. |
Got this guy queued up for Sunday Night football
FORM OF THE DESTRUCTOR — BARREL NO. 3832 CROWLER Mother of all Money Barrels. Sanctuary of Sanctuaries. Stokebringer. Of the thousands of barrels we've tasted over the past decade none stand out quite like this one. This singular example of DBVSOD spent eighteen months in Heaven Hill barrels before being rebarreled in a Weller Special Reserve barrel for an additional year. Brownie crust, vanilla, graham, and bakers chocolate evolve from the glass as it warms, while American oak tannin and alcohol leave the palate dry and yearning for more after each sip. 16.66% ABV (32oz Crowler) https://i.imgur.com/kkIGmdp.jpg?1 |
The usual beers and vodka, just nursing a Budweiser right now... pacing myself to be lucid for the game tonight

Off all week. So a few makers for the game **** the Raiders
|
Had a screwdriver with tequila instead of vodka and now it's on to Busch Light and doja to keep me even keel.

Billion hours of PTO? Are you a year into the job? It seems like yesterday that you got fired. My 800lb gorrila closed our office without notice on Friday. Full base pay plus 100% corporate bonus paid after we return from 60 days off. Converted out "use it or lose it" regular vacation into cash! I had 10 days. Talk about a nice holiday bonus. Quote:

At my place weve had so many cases, building gets evacuated due to so many positive cases on a weekly basis, etc morale is extremely low and the turnover is high, alot of people took early retirement there is a huge shortage of unfilled positions. I had to crawl through glass just to get approved to work from home. Literally multiple doctor letters stating I'm at high risk for contacting severe COVID. Time off used to be granted by seniority around holidays but now they just said **** it and approved anyone who puts in they need people so bad. Its amazing despite having 3 months to come up with a plan they really didnt come up with anything other than enforcing masks and putting down arrows on the floor telling people which way to go and of course nobody follows it. They really need to shut it down for a month come up with a strategy to get more people to work from home which IMO will help increase productivity and boost morale |
