he is a lot like Marino where he can just ****ing flick his wrist and the ball looks beautiful and sails better than Alex Smith in perfect form and footwork can do with his broke dick noodle arm

Eh, its tricky, but my initial thought is yes.

The very last thing i want is to ruin this kid before he even gets started, a full year on the bench and the next years camp never hurt anyone... never mind an undrafted free agent.

By this time next year, Bray better be as well-groomed as a poodle's butthole at the Westminster Dog Show.

Neither was his worst. His pass for too hard to be intercepted and it bounced off the defenders hands and body. That's a good thing as our receivers will have better hands than a defender and more used to bullets.

I, like most everyone here probably, like the first one better because if the defender didn't fall down it would have had to have been a good comeback by the receiver or it would have been incomplete or intercepted. Either way, it wouldn't have likely been a TD. The first one, he knew who and where Mr. Dependable for the game was.

Chiefs rookie Bray turns head in preseason finale

Read more here: http://www.bellinghamherald.com/2013...#storylink=cpy

KANSAS CITY, MO. — Tyler Bray knows that he's probably not going to get a whole lot of snaps in a game the rest of the year. It comes with the territory of being the third-string quarterback.

That's why he made the most of the ones he got Thursday night.

The rookie out of Tennessee threw for 169 yards and three downs in leading the Chiefs to a 30-8 victory over the Green Bay Packers in their preseason finale. And while he was mostly going against fellow third-teamers, the performance was enough to leave Kansas City buzzing.

"He has a live arm, man. He's not scared to go make big plays," Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers said. "He just has the eye of a tiger. The game's not too big for him."

Who would have thought anybody would be dishing out such praise four months ago?

Bray was considered a second- or third-round pick by folks who make their living by predicting such things. That's one of the reasons he left school a year early. But over three frustrating days — seven agonizing rounds — Bray was passed over by every team in the NFL.

Not one of the 32 was willing to spend a draft pick on him.

It was embarrassing. Humbling. Front-office officials privately pointed to a slew of off-the-field issues at Tennessee that called Bray's maturity into question. He may have had a big right arm, they whispered, but did he have the mental makeup to make it as a professional?

So far, the answer has been a resounding yes.

Bray routinely stuck around after practice throughout training camp to squeeze in extra work with the Chiefs' wide receivers. He asked so many questions of starters Alex Smith and backup Chase Daniel that they were left exhausted. He's been trying to absorb everything that Chiefs coach Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Doug Pederson can pass along as they prepare for the season.

"Does he have room to grow? Absolutely. That's what's exciting about the whole thing," Reid said Friday. "We'll see how he does as time goes on here. He handled what we threw at him last night. He executed well and had a little knack for throwing the football."

That much was never in question.

Bray was a high-profile recruit when he committed to Tennessee — one of his guides on his visit in high school was Chiefs safety Eric Berry. He threw for more than 1,800 yards as a freshman, put up comparable numbers as a sophomore, and then threw for 3,612 and 34 touchdowns his junior year.

With a weak draft class at quarterback, Bray thought that he'd be picked in the first couple of rounds. He never realized how much value the NFL places on character these days.

The Chiefs knew that his raw ability was worth taking a chance on, though, so they called him almost immediately after the draft. They weren't alone. But the Chiefs won the bidding for the rookie free agent, and Bray reported to the Chiefs this past spring with a positive attitude.

He quickly moved up the depth chart past Ricky Stanzi, who has since been cut, and is barking on the heels of Daniel, who struggled most of the preseason. And while it'll be hard for Bray take over the No. 2 job given his experience, nothing seems impossible right now.

"I already knew how he can throw. I knew how he can compete. I knew he could make plays. I just wanted to see him showcase it out here," Berry said. "I've been talking about him since he got here. I always thought he was a good pickup."

In a sign of how much he's matured, Bray downplayed his stellar outing against Green Bay.

He reminded a gaggle of reporters who gathered around him in the Chiefs locker room that he was going against third- and fourth-teamers, and that he hasn't proven anything yet in the NFL.

"I'm not going out there like Alex playing the ones, or Chase playing the twos," he said. "It was good to get some reps because I'm probably not going to get many down the road here."

Notes: Reid confirmed that OG Ricky Henry will require surgery after rupturing his bicep against the Packers. ... Reid and Packers GM John Dorsey planned to meet Friday before deciding on the final roster. The Chiefs must reach the 53-man limit by Saturday afternoon. ... LB Nico Johnson continues to recover from a high ankle sprain. Reid wouldn't say whether he'll be out for the season opener Sept. 8 at Jacksonville.

My man Flowers was not very high on the Chiefs after they paid him, losing, shitty culture and all. It's good to hear him getting excited about Bray.

I can't really see the second or 2 before but it looks like a play action pass. The linebackers and everyone bit hard on it. I was impressed with Brays ability to see that his first option is not happening and go to his second and make the touchdown. With Cassel he would have started shitting his pants and run into a sack or try to throw into triple coverage and get intercepted.

The second TD is good as well even though someone might say not because the defender fell down. But if you look when Bray commits to the pass the defender is still up. Bray was on target where as Cassel would have again shit himself and try to run the ball and 32 would have got him for the sack. Or he would have thrown the ball but it would have sailed out of bounds by about 10 feet.

A lot of us have been saying that a real strength of ASmith is the impact he had on the 49er defense because of his ability to keep them off the field since he is a "game manager".....

It's not just TOP. It's taking advantage of the opportunities the defense creates. That makes a guy say, "I can trust this guy to capitalize on my work".

Well, not leaving the defense to have to defend the short field all the time will help that. at the very worst, make sure its a Colquitt punt and not a turnover.

Just watched the game again. Bray has 2x the God given talent that Smith has. Does that mean he should start #week1? No. But what that means is pretty boy Smith better be watching his back because let's be real...the guy really ain't all that good.

Why there is even a discussion regarding who should be the #2 QB on this team is beyond me. Chase Daniel sucks and shouldn't even be on an NFL roster in my opinion. It's almost as bad a mistake as this new regine has made as making Braden "****ing" Wilson their 6th round pick. I mean, for serious....these guys suck. Ge them the **** out of here.

Well I hope Arrowhead is rocking you first Arrowhead experience. You were better off not going last few years. When the Chiefs get hot again that's when you need to go. You want your first experience to be everything you would want it to be and even then it can be far beyond that. The Sea of Red will flow through your vains.
