I do absolutely love mysteries that span multiple episodes but I also like to intersperse shows that are cleaner. The show I mentioned a couple of days ago - The Good Cop - is a show where each episode is a new mystery/crime and they wrap it up by the end of the episode. |

I have enjoyed Shrinking on Apple TV+. It has Harrison Ford.
All the characters are pretty likable, ala Ted Lasso. |
I just finished binging Mr. Inbetween on Hulu, not sure if this show was discussed in the thread, I did a search and didn’t find any previous recommendations. I didn’t think I was going to like this series but it has ended up as one of my all time favorites.

Finally watched the second season of White Lotus. It was as good as the first IMO. Not new and fresh like the original one, but that's because the original exists. There is some world class cinematography in that bitch. My god it's good. And the storytelling is really really superb. It's really a pretty simple story, but I was all in on all the characters.
For a bit I was concerned it would be one of those shows that was overwhelmed by perpetual unhappiness, but they pulled out some interesting conclusions out of the thing. I don't know WTF voodoo magic Mike White is on, but he is mother****ing killing it. |

Just saw an ad for a new show on AMC called Lucky Hank with Bob Odenkirk.

I found it enjoyable as a middle ground between a super serious murder mystery and a smart, yet lighter, small town likeable detective show ala some of the British stuff. |

The second season of yellowjackets on showtime is starting on March 26th. The first season was incredible.

It's to the point now where there is no point in watching any series because they all get cancelled after one season now

You need to be more disciminating. |
I'm binging The Mayor of Kingstown featuring Jeremy Renner. It's a good watch

It's becoming a self fulfilling prophecy, no one wants to watch season one of a show because it probably would get cancelled, so wait until there are multiple seasons first, but then since no one watched season one the show doesn't get more seasons. |

I enjoyed Poker Face, looking forward to season 2. The Glory on Netflix was also good (long slow revenge story).

So rather than watch season 1 and get hooked, it's best just to skip anything new until you know there will be more than 1 season. As a general rule, I won't even start a series that has only 1 season because more than likely, it's going to get canceled. This really isn't a problem with series' I'm already watching. |
Yep. Unless the show is an immediate huge hit it’s not really safe to watch anything until a renewal has been announced. Although these days some renewed shows have been canceled.
This would be less of a problem if it wasn’t so common to end a season on a cliffhanger. |

The Last Kingdom is ****ing FIRE!! Halfway through season 2, and it’s awesome!

On Netflix, Cyberpunk Edgerunners is a good watch if you like Ghost in the Shell anime. It's less glum, and like the original GITS anime movie it's for adults.
Giancarlo Esposito's in it |
Who has watched "The Strain"? Just watched the first episode tonight and it has me intrigued.

I liked it, probably a better binge that an episode a week series |

Finally gave in to my daughter and started Stranger Things. Absolutely fascinating.

I watched the first episode of Lucky Hank with Bob Odenkirk. It’s sort of a comedy drama and I enjoyed it.
I had no idea 1899 got cancelled. I enjoyed that show. Mind Hunter is a show that comes to mind for a show getting cancelled unexpectedly for me. Though it lasted two seasons not one it’s another example of getting excited about a show only to have it end. |
Just about to finish up season one of a very well done series on HBO Max, Perry Mason.

I posted about Perry Mason when Season 1 went on.
I enjoyed it a LOT. I really did. It took some heat (maybe rightfully so, IDK) that it wasn't very true to the original story. I'm not much of a Mason fan otherwise, so it didn't really bother me, but I was really into the story. Season 2 is running right now and I'm all about it. |
Severance on Apple TV is weird and great show.

Matthew Rhys is great just like he was in The Americans. |

Sidenote: He was on The Watch Podcast, and he is insanely Brittish. Holy shit. That makes his performances all the better. |
Oh my word, the Succession season 4 reviews are dropping and so are my pants:

I read the first word and immediately got excited hoping news of season 2 would fill out the rest of your post. And yes it’s awesome, immediately one of my favorites of the last 10 years if not more. |

He doesn’t have HBO so hadn’t seen their version but is out here visiting so we’re literally watching it right now. I figured he’d hate it because a) he’s old and a curmudgeon and b) a Perry Mason purist. He’s loving it. He won’t say he’s loving it, just like the food I cook for him, but I can tell. It’s my 2nd time through season one and I’m appreciating it even more. |

Full Swing on Netflix is a good watch - as long as you are a degenerate golfer. It covers last season and the whole LIV vs. PGA thing. Interesting.

I watched the Consultant on Amazon.
I think I'm not smart enough to catch what it was getting at. Some of it was pretty decent. Some of it was cringe. At the very least it kept me engaged. Overall, it was pretty underwhelming, but there are some good performances. |
Night Agent on netflix is a great adventure/mystery stream. I would highly recommend it.

After 4 1/2 inches of rain in 15 hours Thursday night, I spent 5 hours this morning raking, shoveling and relocating the gravel in my 300ft driveway and still got through episode 9 this afternoon. :D I have never seen a downpour like that, it was overshooting the gutters and we live on the side of a hill. :bolt: |

As an aside: Streaming services are creating multi-episode shows that really should be made-for-tv movies of an hour or two. A lot of nothing happens in episodes, and more nothing happens in the next episode. The story progresses at a snails pace. |
I can see that. Everyone process different

We have had these torential rains every spring, the lake is a mess. I just finished Succession season 4 episode 1 and it was great IMO. Little confusing to start but it comes together. :thumb: |
Would highly recommend Superstore on NBC or Hulu/Netflix. Pretty funny and lighthearted show. Easy watch. Kind of like if The Office was in a dept store.

Anyone watch the first season of The Bear on Hulu? Really really enjoyed it and the second season is supposed to be out in June or July. This video is a bit more than a trailer for the show. Might have a few spoilers in it. I didn't think the trailer video did it justice. Watch to about 1:40 gives you a good idea of the show... or longer if you want to know more.

The Bear was absolutely amazing. That one I was all the way in on and hung with me for awhile.
Strongly recommend. |
