I hope they at least fired him by voicemail.

If that's the case then **** you Clark Hunt.

Dorsey still had a year left on his contract so there was no reason to fire him if that was the case, which I don't believe was even a factor.

ToxSocks 06-22-2017 03:20 PM

I better start seeing some rumors about Dorsey's addiction to opiates....

You're not a contrarian yet you're the only guy in this thread pretending that Dorsey has done nothing.

I never said that. But I don't think it's such a big deal that he's gone. The stability and success we've had the past 4 years I credit mostly to Reid. He's the guy turning chicken shit to chicken salad. If Mahomes pans out, I won't give 3 ****s about Dorsey. He's been the #3 guy in charge since he got here. I'm not going to lose sleep over losing him and much as if we had lost Reid.

Conspiracy theory: Chiefs were becoming to competitive so the NFL told hunt they had to release Dorsey to go to a more favored team.

Because Chiefs. So depressing..

Per Tom Pelissero

Among issues I've heard #Chiefs brass had with John Dorsey: Didn't get some big deals done early (e.g. Houston, Berry). Cost them more later

Insubordination? Dorsey got caught talking to GB recently after telling Clark in January he wanted to stay here?

Or recent events -- Maclin? -- pissed off Clark?

Sure but what if Dorsey was set on staying in KC back in January but certain events changed his mind?

Then Hunt needs to get it in writing from Dorsey (aka an extension) before letting Ballard go. Otherwise Dorsey should have gotten the ax. It should not have been that complicated for someone with the "business acumen" of Clark Hunt.

A top priority this offseason should have been to lock up Dorsey or Ballard long term. The Chiefs absolutely bungled that responsibility.

O.city 06-22-2017 03:24 PM

Apparently they had been having contract talks then chiefs decided to let him go.

Something weird happened

Yeah, but there clearly was some final straw that we don't know.

T-post Tom 06-22-2017 03:24 PM

Based on the discussions here, a few of us should be sending our resumes to the Clarks....

Hog's Gone Fishin 06-22-2017 03:25 PM

This puts a huge damper on our future . Dorsey and Reid seemed to work so well together.

He mismanaged the cap a bit. That's the only viable explanation. Even still, not a good enough reason to fire a guy who built one of the best rosters in the league and the best Chiefs roster since the 90's.

FloridaMan88 06-22-2017 03:25 PM

Clark is obviously not happy with how the Chiefs salary cap has been managed... Trip MacCracken, Will Lewis and now Dorsey.
