Don't even try to move past that grief. It will take a long time just to numb yourself to it while watching a Cardinal game, and the "what if" factor will never go away.

Maybe in a few weeks we can start talking about the task at hand personnel wise. Until then, we're probably all a little baseballed out.

Christ, it's been 12 years since Darryl Kile's death, and I still get a little head****ed when I see the number 57.

We're going to be talking about Oscar and his potential as old men.

Starting the thread in a month sounds good to me.

Regarding Oscar,

I'm sure they'll have an OT 18 in the bullpen, and I hope they put it up, but goddamn will I hate seeing it.

It's had me down all week. Even the girls at the office have asked about me. Just all the whys and what ifs.

I would like him in KC but in terms of prospects and look at his salary, yikes it would be a tough pill to swallow. I'm sure the Cardinals will feel the same way.

We need a right fielder though and if I remember correctly could easily absorb the contract

Salary is not the issue. We have $20 million available without an increase in payroll.

His injury history, rocky mountain high inflated BA, giving up prospects is the issue for me.

I'd love to have Stanton in right. Well, I know who'd I'd really love in righr, but that's still tough to think about.

But Gonzalez would be cheaper and would fit in great

He's still young enough that you could chalk up 2014 as a disaster year for him. It might represent the best chance for the Cardinals to buy low on someone with MVP-level upside, and with him under contract for three more years at $10 MM, that's pretty cheap.

And while he is certainly not the hitter he is at Coors, his career isolated slugging on the road is better than any Cardinal had overall in 2014, save for Peralta, who bested him by one point.

I would gladly give them Marco Gonzales and Grichuk or Piscotty for him, and probably a touch more.

They are going to want Martinez.

Yadi wins another gold glove, although I'm not sure he deserved it this year.

He deserved it 2 years before he got his first one. Balancing out.

He is still the best defensive catcher in baseball. He did have some issues with getting out on balls and taking pitches off.

I just don't think they have the prospects to turn a Stanton type deal, and I think Gonzales, like you said, is at a buy low type point.

His contract goes up this year to 16 million, 17 million next and the 3rd year at 20 million.
