Rosenthal says he's not heading to LA. Bet he goes to Chicago

Crap, the Cubs are getting ready to be a major pain in the butt.

If we are stuck with Matheny, might as well move Taveras. He will stay in the Matheny doghouse.

Give them Taveras/Martinez/Connley/AA prospect. That should get you Stanton

Wouldn't be surprised to see the Cubs make a move for Hamels. Epstein has said that he wants to compete in 2015 and he's going to try to target 2 pitchers. I'm already betting that 1 of those slots is already filled with Lester. And the Cubs have a plethora of SS's to trade and I'm betting Baez is going to be shipped out for something this offseason because he is not the kind of player Epstein likes, as far as a hitter. Plus, the Cubs claimed Hamels on the waiver wire after the trade deadline.

The Cubs don't care if the $24 million/year blows up in their faces. They have BILLIONS more to spend.

Luck would not be on your side if you traded for Hamels and it ended up biting you in the ass. He's pitched 200+ innings 5 years in a row and just had possibly his best year.

Hamels and any other player like him has a limited maket/interested teams. They have to be a top payroll team to not have it hurt the team if the $100-$200 million players forgets to how to play the game or gets hurt.

Who is in this club?

Yankees
Mets
Dodgers
Angels
Cubs
Detroit

Anyone else?
Nationals
Phillies
White Sox
Rangers

Do you have a point?

Someone said that the Phillies are willing to eat salary to make a deal happen.

Adam Wainwright is making $3m less a year than Hamels with Hamels have 1 more year under contract which is an option year with a buyout.

Only the rich can afford to be wrong on $100-$200 million contracts. Other teams suffer if they are wrong. Rich teams don't. They just move on to the next guy.

Any team making a push for a WS would be stupid to not at least kick the tires on a guy like Hamels.

30 year old ace who's pretty much a lock for 200+ IP.

O.city 10-24-2014 02:42 PM

Waino had elbow surgery today. His days as an ace seem to be dwindling

Those mother****ing liars.

Again, it needs to be said: trust nothing the Cardinals say about the health of their players.

I don't see how Dewitt can keep any member of that medical staff employed for one more second.

Also, it didn't help that Mr Mushbrain in the dugout thought it was a good idea to have Waino throw 8 billion innings two years in a row following TJ surgery.

No shit. :shake:

How the **** are ever suppose to trust anything they say medically about a player? They changed Doctors and it was suppose to change.

At least the NFL forces teams to be semi-honest about their players.
