He mismanaged his bullpen all regular season long. Now that it's the postseason, he gets it. He's been very good thus far, sans leaving Vargas in an out too long game 1 ALDS and the Ventura Wild Card debacle

I'm trying my best, but it is a bit hard to take you seriously with that avatar. Just saying.

So it was only late in the season he settled on your big 3?

He was managing July/August like May baseball. I'm on my phone now I'll give you examples when I'm on a computer.

Reminds me of Larussa in 2011. Managed the bullpen like an idiot during a lot of the regular season then locked in during the postseason.

So the Phillies have made it known they're willing to unload veterans this offseason and are willing to eat salary on it.

Would you move for Hamels?

No way. They'll want decent prospects since they are eating salary. Hamels is making $24 MM over the next four years. They'd have to eat two thirds of that salary to make it a palatable option over our internal options.

If they'd eat that, I'd send them grichuk and a pitcher just so Taveras can play right

And Jon Jay

Them doing that would be like the Marlins taking Stanton for Grichuk, Jay, and Shelby Miller.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the Cubs make a move for Hamels. Epstein has said that he wants to compete in 2015 and he's going to try to target 2 pitchers. I'm already betting that 1 of those slots is already filled with Lester. And the Cubs have a plethora of SS's to trade and I'm betting Baez is going to be shipped out for something this offseason because he is not the kind of player Epstein likes, as far as a hitter. Plus, the Cubs claimed Hamels on the waiver wire after the trade deadline.

I would prefer to not move Taveras but if they wanted to try for Stanton.l I guess

Sources: Manager Joe Maddon has exercised an opt-out clause in his contract and is leaving the Tampa Bay Rays immediately.

From Olney

Rats are abandoning ship there. Friedman had some poor drafts and got out while the shine was still on him, now Maddon is seeking out greener pastures.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Donnie Baseball get shitcanned now.
