I loved all 3 but ya 2 had the best story imo, most think 1 did. I loved 3 as well, a great series they need to find a way to resurrect and steal some more money. LOL

Agreed. It's probably in my top 5.

I must say I'm really enjoying playing through the first one, though. It's held up well considering how old it is. I really like most of the characters; almost feels like visiting old friends I haven't seen in a long time. Good gameplay, for the most part, although as I remember ME2 is much better. Driving the mako over mountainous terrain sucks as much as ever. Excellent voice acting, and while in games like this the main quest can be a bit of a boat anchor (I'm looking at YOU, Fallout 4) this one is quite good. Saving the galaxy is much more interesting than rescuing some goddamn brat who ends up being a super villain.

ME3 was a real letdown - the ending massively pissed me off. I understand they improved it due to the fairly universal negative reactions, but I'm not sure if I'll play it or not.

Andromeda was better than ME3, but not by much. It was a bit of a mess, the story wasn't as good, the baddies were just pale copies of the ones from the first three, and for whatever reason they changed the basic facial appearance of the characters, and they just looked.... off. I didn't mind it as much as some, but I have no desire to ever play it again.

htismaqe 05-17-2021 08:57 AM

Playing AC3 remastered right now. Forgot how much I love all things AC.

ME1 was PEAK BioWare to me.

The exposition and introduction to the universe, the story, the characters... it was all SO captivating? I don't even know what word to use.

Personally, I always felt it was a true masterpiece of its era.

ME2 had better mechanics, great quests, story arcs, and characters but it just didn't elicit the same FEELING in me.

Still playing the shit out of Apex Legends (100% free to play with no pay to win) right now. Think I'm gonna give Titanfall 1/2 a shot next since it comes from the same family.

Titanfall is pretty good but like all EA games they get boring after a week or so.

Titanfall was made by Respawn in 2014. EA didn't buy Respawn until 2017.

Apex Legends, OTOH, was made after the buyout but it is a fantastic FPS / Battle Royale game.

By the time I picked up Titanfall 2 it was already owned by EA. I guess it just feels like they were always together. What did Respawn make before Titanfall? I'm not much on the pvp games as i've never been into them. That's pretty much for the younger crowd.

Respawn Entertainment was founded by the Infinity Ward principals who left Activision. Infinity Ward (Respawn) are the creators of Call of Duty.

Those guys lost a huge lawsuit against Activision and couldn't keep their rights to the IW name nor the games they had created.

Ah ok I was gonna say didn't treyarch(sp) make those games. I was never a fan nor paid much attention to COD.

If/when my PC gets here I'll look forward to playing with some of the old heads on here. More PVE than competitive. Stuff like the new Ark, or Valheim, or something like that.

Hell, this'll be the first time I've owned anything that would play Halo. That first game is still my favorite FPS of all time. Resistance II being a close second due to the early quality online experience...

Bought Mario Golf for the switch yesterday. Damn this is fun. You can play with the controller or use the joy-con and swing it like a club. I've had more fun playing this the last 24 hours than most any game I can recall.

I've been wondering about that one myself. Thanks for the review, probably gonna get it too...

Tomorrow is gonna be epic!

GTA V releasing new "Tuners" DLC. 17 new cars, an underground car meet, new races, an underground test track, new modifications etc. An entire DLC for the car guys.

Overwatch is releasing their new Summer Games skins tomorrow.

Annnnnd i've picked up raiding again in Warcraft (maybe). My old team trying to get me back into it, so i may go Raiding tomorrow night.

BigBeauford 07-19-2021 03:09 PM

Anyone else besides me preorder the Steam Deck? This might be the most excited I've been for new tech since...I don't really know.

Big update coming this week.

Hyped for The Ascent on the 29th, Cyberpunk Diablo twin stick shooter.

I hope they go back to making new street races instead of the stunt races, which are mostly just easy and dumb. And I wish there were a lot more races that were spefically for muscle cars, coupes, sedans, etc. Racing super cars gets old after a while.

I would buy this if it could run switch games emulated at a higher frame rate. What’s the resolution of the screen? I wonder if anandtech has an article… Do you have an article you’d recommend? Nothing on anandtech.

OK so I think I’d probably just buy the 512 model. $399 (64GB) / $529 (256GB) / $649 (512GB)

The Steam Deck will be on my radar.

Luckily it's a legitimate full bore computer (you can out windows on it). You can hook it up to a USB dock and hook your peripherals. It will also output at 4k/120.

Its really ****ing good, I remember really disliking DS2, so i never bothered with this. Coming of a fresh playthrough of Dark Souls Remastered, this game just feels like the original game on steroids.

Bosses seem a little on the too easy side for Dark Souls so far, but I have only fought a few.

Iudex Gundyr was I guess the tutorial boss, basically just spam attack to win.

Vordt of the Boreal Valley, roll behind, spam attack roll away, repeat.

Crystal Sage, use pillar for cover, run in and smash, repeat.

Curse Rotted GreatWood.....smash the blisters, roll, smash more blisters.

I've honestly had more trouble with some of the knight style mobs than i did with the bosses. Say, talking about New World I had eventually to get power levelling at leprestore to save my time (8 years on the market sounds great). I couldn't go through this myself.

Still, awesome for a 20 spot.

I beat Bayonetta 2 (Switch) last night, it was quite good. I'd score it a 9/10. I liked it more than Bayo 1 since they removed the puzzles and focused just on action. Next up, I started Trials Of Mana (Switch) last night, so that's my next project. I may also throw in some Onimusha 2 (PS2), and Devil May Cry 3 HD (XBO) in there.

that looks tight. the last twin stick shooter I got into was WH40k Kill Team. I still think of Robotron 2084 (1982) as the best. Hatred was pretty good. This looks better than all of those.

Oh I see what has happened. They give you all these cakewalk bosses to make you believe everything is fine, but then they take all of the difficulty that should have been spread out on these bosses, and just basically put it all into Darkeater Midir.

Holy **** that was a bitch of a fight. I wish I could fight him again without going back through Ng+

Never heard of them. Adding it now as I still can't find a PS5 and refuse to pay scalper prices for one.

I tried for like 6 months - dozens of drops at Walmart, Target, etc. and never came close to getting one.

2 weeks with the HotStock app on my phone and I just barely missed a Target pickup, had 2 Walmart drops that I missed but at least saw (Walmart is a lost cause BTW, the scalpers rule that site) and the first Best Buy drop for pickup I got right away.

Definitely a GREAT app.

And as far as the PS5, I'm glad I'm playing Monster Hunter World. That think is a loading screen fest on PS4. Sometimes 2 minutes of loading before or after a mission.

It's like 20 seconds on PS5.

Holy **** that was a bitch of a fight. I wish I could fight him again without going back through Ng+

Best boss in the series.

**** Midir

Very nice! I got the app the day you mentioned it. I do like it and just missed out once on the Playstation site. I know what you mean about Walmart. I kept getting an alert that they had one for over $800. I figured out to prevent that I set my price point to $500 which eliminated that. I want one, but not so much that I am willing to pay scalper prices for one. I will just get one the legit way, just gotta be patient.

Decided to cancel this and try for an Xbox Series X instead. I got hotstocks setup on my phone last night, so I'll give it couple weeks.

Great tip on skipping Walmart. I've tried several XsX drops in a row and it's a total mess. I'm best buy or target from here on out.

What games are you starting with?

Art of Rally

This game rules. Neat graphics, an absolute banger of a soundtrack (seriously, the music is so damn good), and really difficult but rewarding gameplay. It's going to take most folks a hot minute to really understand how to control these cars, but nailing a hairpin at speed is so satisfying. It's almost like playing a rally version of micromachines based on the overhead camera, but it's tough as nails.

Did I mention the music!?

Those graphics look like a mobile phone game from 10 years ago...

Do you even 3D, bro? :D

Its a weirdly demanding game. I had to turn down a couple of settings on my 2070 to get 120 fps @ 2k. I've already made the mistake of writing off a game based on graphics (FTL), and really regretted all of the years I missed of playing what ended up being in my top 5 favorite games ever. Never again.

Sounds cool! I was really posting tongue in cheek. Actually surprised it would require that much video hardware from the stills. I'll have to check out some gameplay video. :thumb:

I'm still enjoying Super Mega Baseball 3. My franchise team is on a tear.

I just uninstalled The Outer Worlds. Boring AF. It is mostly a series of fetch quests and the fighting system is hot garbage. By level 20, my crew and I could take down any baddie we came across without breaking a sweat.

Massively disappointing.
