When I beat this stupid virus, would anyone be interested in a bourbon sharing group?

Thought it might be fun to share samples of our stashes, especially considering how hard some bottles are to find in certain areas, while relatively common in others.

Each guy would need to invest like $10-15 on a dozen or so 4 oz. Boston Round bottles, other than that it would just be shipping.

Local liquor store has Wild Turkey 101 on sale for $20 a bottle. It’s usually about $34 with shipping and taxes. Don’t know what it is in your neighborhood, but that is a savings of about 45%. So I bought a case for coronavirus. I recognize it’s not super rare but it and Knob Creek are my every day drinking bourbons so I enjoyed saving the money.

I started drinking Wild Turkey 101 when I worked at Talk of the town near 119th back when it opened. We would close the kitchen and then sit around the bar while the bartenders cleaned up. Long, long time ago.

I'd definitely be interested. For expensive bottles, it's nice to try it first before investing so much in a bourbon that isn't much better than cheaper stuff. The "problem" with bourbon is that even a lot of cheap stuff is really good so it's pretty hard to get your money's worth on the expensive stuff so it's nice to try first. I know states differ on laws but im in ca and I've received alcohol delivered before. Do you think shipping to different states would be a problem though?

I just got a couple of bottles of this. I must say it’s quite tasty. Hy-vee on 40 Hwy in Independence has them for $55, and Thurs -Sat, they take another 10% off

I might try this in an old fashioned. Got this at Gomers yesterday...decent price point -$40, but I wasn’t wow’d by it.

That Rowans Creek is probably my favorite bourbon at any price. Blantons is ok but not at the price of 70 bills it should be at the 35 to 40 range IMO lots of bourbons Id pull off the shelf before Blantons.

I have never had the Elmer T Lee I have looked for it in sample sizes before I drop that coin.

Have you tried Noah's Mill its a little higher price point than Rowans but it's pretty good. I get it when I cant find Rowans which I prefer.

Just last year, i bought an Antique for $35 which is a great deal and the great price was the only reason to buy antique. The same store just had a store pick antique for $60. It's good but there's many whiskies I'd rather get for around $60 including Elijah craig barrel proof, larceny barrel proof, makers cask, stagg Jr. and more. So basically if you can find antique for retail price, it's worth it but not for more than $50. Same thing applies to Weller 12 in my opinion.

Yeah. I just like to try different things but i could drink happily if the only bourbon i had was evan Williams Bib or wild turkey 101. Tons of great cheaper options. List could go on.

Did retail bump to $80? I managed to get one after it went to $50.

From about the age of 30 to about 40 I drank a lot of Bourbon & Coke, mostly Jim Beam, if someone asked what does it taste like, I would say Cherry Coke. For some reason I kind of went back to beer in my 40's and now the only alcohol I drink is Sangria.

A friend of mine and me got super excited on a likely lead on barrel proof but the store got in the regular EH Taylor instead. Think EH Taylor when you can get it is my favorite at $40.

Single Barrel, Small Batch and Straight Rye are three of my all time favorites.

Would love to try Barrel Proof.

Just swapped out some like that with a friend last night. Those little bottles are perfect for sharing and 2 oz is enough to try.

That’s the only three I’ve tried as well and love them all. Have some single barrel and rye I’ve been rationing left.

I’ve had the total wine barrel selects of their cask strength bourbon and rye and was rather impressed for the price. Both 120 proof but think I preferred to bourbon.

Can't take it with you when you checkout. Best enjoy now life is short bourbon is forever.

McKenna 10 has been hard to find here since it made news with awards a while back. I have a sealed bottle but had a few before. While very good for the retail price point it was disappointing after the hype. I think eagle rare was similar in this is really great for the price until it blew up.

McKenna has been very hit or miss depending on the barrel. I've been pretty lucky with mine, but I've had a bottle or two that really underwhelmed.

When it's good, it's as good as it gets at the $35-40 price point and 100 proof.

Great hot finish on the Antique. I absolutely love it......but loved it more around $40-50 and I can't find it at that much anymore!
