Getting rid of the best receiver on the team(don't anyone say tyreek is better, he's not) pretty much means the Chiefs are in a sort of proto-rebuild/rearrange mode to get the team ready for Mahomes. Marcus Peters needs to be resigned, Tyreek too. Also getting another WR1 and DT.
Pat Mahomes is Andy Reid's last shot at winning a SB, and I think he knows it, so they're going to make the team the best possible situation for Pat Mahomes to waltz into. This definitely signals that the team has closed the window on the Alex Smith era. |
No rebuilding. No fairy tales.
Maclin wasn't worth his production. |

This shit happens on every Chiefs discussion board I've ever seen. It's not just Chiefs Planet. |
This is almost the exact same situation when we cut Brandon Flowers.
It was met with shock at first, but eventually we got used to it, and as it turns out, our secondary was just fine. And it was for the best. |

Im sure this was an incredibly difficult move for the Chiefs to make. I'm generally not one that favors cutting players after a down year, but i'm ok with this move.
I'm betting Maclin was well aware he was on the bubble. He didn't show up to OTA's because it was the vet thing to do, he showed up because he knew his ass was on the line and he had to prove he belonged on the roster. As crisp as he may have been, he probably wasn't 13.5M dollars crisp. A very Patriots move... |
Too bad, he had one fine season but injuries are injuries. Probably time to move on. Especially at that price.
