He showed up big time. Got better as the game went along. Big balls performance tonight. Too bad Matheny ****ed his effort.

Not technically a sweep but that's the first time they lost 3 games in a row to an opponent at home or away this season.

For Christ sake can we see Tavares everyday in right next year?

Need this next young wave to take the torch though. Good to see Wong, Adams, Carp Grichuk Tavares and company get some experience tho

I see the Post-dispatch website is broken.

I'm sure they are melting down.

As they should be. I know this will not get Matheny fired but hopefully enough pressure is applied for him to change.

Bouchy yanked his closer who hasn't gave up a run in a whole month to bring in his best matchup. No ****ing way Matheny pulls Rosenthal is the same situation.

It's incredibly hard to get there. That's why you can't piss away chances on stupidity.

Holliday is 35 next year, Wainwright, Peralta, and Molina 33.

The great Cardinal farm system of a few years ago is mostly exhausted of all its position talent.

This might be the last night of this era.

Couldn't agree more. You never can take the current chance for granted because assuming you will be back at the same place and better after another season is just unrealistic. You never know when guys will suddenly get shitty, UCLs go or your personnel moves stop working.

There is still enough talent to win next year.

Yeah, but the pieces have to fall in place.

We have seen the best versions of Adam Wainwright and Yadi Molina. Peralta is not going to put up 5.6 WAR next year, and Holliday has begun his decline curve.

On top of that, Jon Jay just had a career year.

Let us not forget that John Mabry is still the hitting coach and Matheny the manager. Even if Adams were to morph into a 35 HR behemoth and Oscar look like Vlad Guerrero, Matheny proved this week that he can **** up any situation.

He is the Sword of Damocles that hangs over every season.

I have no faith that Jay will repeat a .300 season. His arm is weak. His trade value is as high as it will ever be. He is one of Matheny's guys. We should trade all them except for Molina until he gets the ****ing message that its about the team, not individual players.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-16-2014 10:15 PM

Look at the Rangers:

They get to the Series in 2010 and 2011. They have Hamilton, Napoli, Beltre, Kinsler, Andrus, and Nelson Cruz. On top of that, they had the #1 prospect in baseball (Profar) and a CIF who was killing the ball and cruising through their system.

They didn't win either won and haven't won a PO game since.

They were the worst team in baseball this year. Now, Olt is a Cub who looks like Rob Deer and Profar had one of the worst rookie seasons imaginable before blowing his shoulder out this year.

Every team has to have it fall into place. Just get to the playoffs and hope your the hot team. Look at the Royals.

For every declining Holliday/peralta there is a rising Adams/Wong/Taveras.
