This is becoming a reeruned arms-race. I don't even think these conferences are doing their due diligence anymore. Just going with the ol' eyeball tests and grabbing whatever they can. Like I said - reeruned.

The whole deal just feels like a punch in the gut. I've tried to ignore it and decided I would wait to see what happens because there was nothing any of us could do about it, nor did, or does anybody have a ****in clue as to what the end game is going to be.

:spock: Then why do you say Mizzou has been left at the alter and must feel stupid?

This one reads like the craziest story yet.

Why would the other Big 10 schools want Texas?
Texas would dominate that conference. Neither OSU or Michigan would ever even sniff a championship shot again.

Because it would bring 10s of millions of new Big Ten Network subscribers. Texas would bring a shit-ton of money to the Big10, and that's all this is really about.

Texas Hold 'Em: Longhorns, A&M To Big Ten

Oklahoma Looking To Move To SEC, Needs 1 Other School

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- High level sources in multiple conferences have told KCTV5 that Texas and Texas A&M are looking to move to the Big Ten Conference and have petitioned for membership, while the University of Oklahoma is planning on petitioning the Southeastern Conference to become a member of its conference.

KCTV5's sources said that Texas and Texas A&M do not have to include Texas Tech or Baylor in their plans. Sources told KCTV5 that there have already been discussions about the two schools entering the Big Ten and that the agreement could be made as soon as Thursday.

Oklahoma is currently working on petitioning to enter the SEC, but must find another university to enter the league with them, sources said. TMZ Sports has reported that Oklahoma State is likely to accept a bid to move to the Pac-10. Earlier Thursday, Colorado accepted an invitation to join the Big 12.

KCTV5's sources also said that some Big 12 officials are saying decisions on which deals Big 12 schools take invitations by the end of the day Thursday, although the deals may not be officially announced. Big 12 officials also tell KCTV5's sources that some Big 12 office employees are planning to be without a job within weeks.

Those decisions would leave the University of Kansas, Kansas State University and the University of Missouri with Baylor, Texas Tech and Iowa State in the Big 12. The Missouri Board of Curators met Thursday and planned to meet Friday to discuss the future of Missouri sports.

Nice, now we have Tech.

Yes, we all understand that Texas is sitting on a mountain of cash, but it's not like they're planning on giving it away to Northwestern and Penn State.

Seems to me that inviting Texas to join your league is like a town getting a Walmart - good for economy until you realize that everything else around it has been destroyed.

Isn't this supposed to take place over the course of 2 years, not within weeks?

Frazod 06-10-2010 02:10 PM

And if Texas does go to the Big 10, I want no part of it. I want to get away from those one who sucks the peniss, not be part of their entourage.

The media is just running with this. All the "may be" xrap is just naked speculation.

Even in the absence of any developments a media org needs to publish a quantity of material in proportion to the level of interest in that story. So the speculate, most of the writers knowing little even compared to the fans following the situation.

Then you have people like Kietzman and others whose perception is that basketball is relevant at all. Other than a month in March, it's nowhere in the same universe of importance.

That is just the lay of the land. America has a huge appetite for the NFL and similarly less for the NBA.
