Quick note to state the obvious: despite this picture, DC and Jones are not the same height. Jones is tall, DC is short and big.

I hope this one is all it's cracked up to be.

I think Jones wins a decision.

Can't wait for it though. Should be a good one.

I'm pumped for this fight and i'm not even that into MMA. But man this card is complete shit beyond the main event lol. the UFC would have been ****ed if either JBJ or Cormier had to pull out again.

alnorth 01-02-2015 01:54 PM

The weigh-ins are going to be 6pm central tonight on Fox Sports 2. I forget how long it takes to weigh a full card, but I assume that DC and Jones will weigh-in at about 6:30 or so

The co-main is also very good. Cowboy Cerrone is one of the most popular fighters in the UFC, and it is very fun to watch that crazy kicking redneck fight. On the other side, Jury is "undefeated" (not counting his TUF loss). If Cowboy wins again, there's going to be an awful lot of pressure for him to get a title shot.

There are a couple other potential good fights on the main card, but for the wider mass audience, the last two fights are really the ones people are going to care about.

The prelims on the other hand.... yeah, I'll have it on the TV and I'm sure there will be some fun knockouts or something, but I'm not looking forward to any of those fights.

Ill be watching no doubt about it.

There are enough great fighters out there to put together a better card than this. Greed is the big thing with Dana and Zuffa. No news there. We need more competition.

I've seen Cerrone fight a few times (one of them being the pettis fight) he's a pretty fun dude to watch. I didn't know he was that good, but looking his record up thats quite a winning streak. I stand corrected, that is a nice co main event.

Yeah, I've noticed that they will try to stack up the card when the main event can't sell the card by itself, but when they have a potential huge superfight, then they usually don't really fill out the event much at all. They try to save all the good 2nd-tier fights for the PPV events that need them to sell.

This backfired badly on Zuffa when Cain had to pull out of the Mexico City PPV last year, then the card really had nothing else to fall back on and no reason to watch it, so they had to cobble together some interim championship fight to drum up any interest at all.

At least this time around we have a very good fight to back up the main event, Cowboy and Jury could easily headline any Fight Night even on FOX, and its a worthy PPV co-main.

Yea, I will pay to watch this one. I missed the Lawler fight. I always liked that guy.

UFC 184 on Feb. 28th is the polar opposite of this event. They don't have a superfight to sell it, so they stacked it way the hell up to the point where its still pretty much a must-buy event for me. (UFC 183 is garbage if anyone is wondering)

184 will have 2 championship fights, an awesome heavyweight fight, and a very good middleweight fight. A couple of the prelims also have some known fighters.

Lauzon vs. Iaquinta is on 183. I'll tune in anytime Lauzon fights.

thabear04 01-02-2015 06:08 PM

Don't know the rest of guys beside the main fight.

alnorth 01-02-2015 06:34 PM

Everyone made weight except for some random chick from the early prelims.

Hilarious moment in the weigh-in for the main event: before the weigh-in the NV State Athletic Commission warned both fighters that if there is a scuffle or conflict in the weigh-in, then whoever started it would forfeit their entire purse and not get paid for the fight.

So, faced with that threat, they didn't stare down, Jones turned to his right and stood facing the crowd, and DC turned to his right and stood facing away.
