Almost all of my postings within this thread revolve around why I liked the movie, and why I think some of the main criticisms of the movie miss the mark (i.e. Leia surviving in the vacuum of space, Snoke's seemingly meaningless death, Luke supposedly being a bitch, etc. etc.) Those are two different topics. But mostly, his responses to my posts are, as I've said... "I don't know nuthin', I'm not in the business, etc. etc. As if I need to be "in the business" to speak on my own opinion of the movie. |

Or even... why you think the SW universe is dead because of TLJ, why I disagree, etc. etc. Instead it's "you're dumb, you know nuthin', you're not in hollywood, you lack imagination". Please show me where I've posted similar attacks to those I disagree with here... I'll wait. |

Since then, I've stayed away from this particular topic and only spoken about how much I enjoyed the film and appreciate Rian's candor. |
Both sides are pretty on edge at this point, it's pointless to argue that one side is more defensive than the other.

Blumhouse movies are a good example of this kind of deal. And it is different from movie to movie and deal to deal. |

Trivia:
Adjusted for inflation, what’s the highest grossing movie of all time? No fair googling. |

Just a numbers update.
In 5 of its last 6 weekdays, the movie has pulled in less than $1m. The only exception was Friday, is sort of a hybrid day, and pulled in $1.6m. By way of contrast, TFA didn't have its first sub-$1m day until February. |

I think the main "problem" here has been poor communication. I'm not going to re-hash all of it but it's pretty clear to me that people have been talking past each other a good deal and not listening to what others are trying to express. On both sides.
That's just the way the internet in general and Chiefs Planet specifically works these days. Moving forward, I'm not really interested in discussing the impact TLJ has on Dinsey/Lucas film. I will be interested in watching that play out. And I appreciate all info/updates where that's concerned. But I'm not going to discuss it myself. I'll leave that to others. I'll still chime in from time to time to talk about the film itself, though. Because that's the conversation I'm interested in right now. I look forward to reading through the thread and seeing what others say on all sides, however. Hopefully, it remains civil. Either way, I hope I continue to learn new things. |
