Saul and Herbies "4 winners 4 slots!" Argument is dumb. Moving onward, the Big 12 was set up perfectly Sat. If any conf title game went their way, one gets in. If two did, both get in. It took all three outcomes going against them to end their hopes.
You don't have to win a conf title under the current rules, nor do you have to play tough non-con. All these things help but are not requirements. |

If you don't play a CCG, and you play a terrible non-con schedule, and you don't run the table, don't be surprised when you get passed over for a team that won the CCG. This is simple stuff. |

That said, Cincy and Memphis make the most sense, if only because of West Virginia (which is an albatross). Without them, BYU and Colorado State would probably make more sense. There is actually one other school that makes more sense, but both sides are too stubborn to admit it. |
I wondered what the odds were all 3 games would break against the Big 12. This prob grid gives us a good idea:
http://football.stassen.com/pointspread/ 1) Bammy -14.5: 85.14% 2). Fsu -3.5: 60.6% 3. Ohio State +4.0. (1-.647) 35.3% Factoring all three: just 18.2% chance. There's not a person on earth who wouldn't bet the ranch with such odds. |
Yep. The new Kansas football coach gave his condolences to the search committee, called the state of Kansas "the state of Texas", and mistakenly included Missouri in his list of conference opponents.
Seems like a good fit... |

I also saw 10/12 of the SEC schools are favorites. Guess Vegas has a SEC bias too. |

Saw this on a KU site...
Big 12's Biggest Mistakes: 1. Not having a strong commissioner in the 2000's. A strong commission could have put a plan together to satisfy all parties. 2. Not calling Texas on their bluff to leave the conference. The commissioner at that time was too afraid of Texas and didn't understand that Texas was not going to leave the Big 12. Allowing Texas to hold the rest of the conference hostage destabilized the conference and led to the departure of Missouri, Nebraska, A&M, and Colorado. 3. After the departure of the schools listed above the Big 12 should have invited Louisville and one other school to the conference to preserve a minimum of 12 conference schools. I realize it may have reduced revenue in the short term but long term it would be better for long term conference value. Going forward the Big 12 either needs to merge with the Southeastern Conference or invite 2 more schools to the conference. We need to think about the future. |
More:
The Big12 is only around because Texas wants their stupid crap network and the rest of the Big12 is happy to lick their boot heels. The Big12 has undoubtedly the worst leadership in college sports. While everyone else is expanding and starting networks we get a Big12 where KU doesn't even have a third tier contract that allows everyone in the city with their biggest alumni base to watch all the games played by our basketball team. The Big12 is just a disaster. It's small time in every way compared to every other conference and it's why it's easily the second best football conference yet couldn't get a team in the playoff. Their honestly isn't anything they can do to improve it. They had the chance to but they passed on expansion and now their is only crap schools left out there. I honestly see no way this crap league survives when the GOR is up especially if Texas is getting lapped by aTm still in 8 or 9 years. |
