that's embarrassing for whoever agreed to that

Network demanded Wal-mart prices.

Isn't Dwyer finally becoming the pitcher we always hoped he would. I haven't had time to watch MiLB games yet this year, but it would seem to me based on his stat line that he is finally breaking through despite the promotion to AAA.

I watched Dwyer one or two starts back. He's definitely focusing more on throwing strikes, and his K rate is down a bit as a result. But I think he might have kind of figured it out.

Duncan, play GM.

You can acquire BOTH David DeJesus (to platoon with Frenchy) AND Chase Utley. Both could be available in June. I think that would significantly upgrade the offense without breaking the bank long-term fiscally or in terms of young talent.

Would you make those deals? If so, what would you trade to get them?

I wouldn't trade anything of real value for David DeJesus. Something like Jason Adam + JC Gutierrez is as far as I would go there. A C prospect and a lotto guy. If Epstein wants more... screw him.

For Utley... I think you can do that for a guy who is a fringe top 100 prospect and some extra pieces.

Something like:
Orlando Calixte (he has to start hitting better at NWA for this to work)
Gio/Colon (whichever one they like... guy that is close to the majors, has some upside and can give them everyday play at 2B pretty much right away)
Chris Dwyer

That woud be a pretty fair package, I think, and it's a better one than they received for Pence.

BS Question because it won't happen. But if the Royals went out and acquired Stanton, signing him to a 5 year extension and building around him, what would the average attendance at the K be this summer?

I legitimately think that if you added Stanton to a contender, you're looking at 30,000 + at every home game. This town is starving for a young superstar who hits long home runs, IMO. They could market the hell out of him.

I'd send them Cain, Ventura, Mondesi, and 2 other low-level prospects for Stanton.

Ok, back to reality.

David Glass. You know, the "brilliant businessman". He's really been unsuccessful in everything he's done without Sam Walton carrying him on his back.

1) Kyle Zimmer. Doesn't profile as a true ace (Verlander/Kershaw/King Felix), but then only a few minor league guys have that type of upside. Profiles just fine as someone with James Shields/Zack Greinke level potential.

Zack is every bit the ace that those guys are.

what if they signed Geno Smith? Then what would the attendance be?

teedubya 05-04-2013 11:49 AM

They're gonna get it in, but it's gonna be miserable to be there. I have tickets that I'm gonna be trading in.

Prison Bitch 05-04-2013 11:51 AM

Attendance doesn't matter to payroll anymore. It's all TV. And Glass signed a horrible TV extension. We're in trouble and that's why Dayton decided to go all-in the next two years. Because the 5 years after will be slash & burn cheap payrolls.

It's cold and cloudy, but I don't think it's gonna rain/snow.

Yeah, that deal Glass signed was just ****ing awful.

Why trade for Dejesus, though? We can move Dyson into Center and shift Cain into Right if we want to platoon a lefty bat in. Or call up David Lough. Sure they're not power bats, but they are extremely productive speed bats.
