Some stats:

From 2016-2017, Mathieu played 612 coverage snaps in the slot, and was targeted 92 times. Allowed 70 catches, 742 yards, 4 TDs & 2 INTs. 104.5 QB rating, per PFF.

We’re going to see A TON of deep balls. It’s already a known fact that a cover 4 shell means Tyreek Hill is hitting his head on the goal post for six half of the time. A cover 2 shell means Mahomes uses his arm to fit the ball in the C2 holes on each sideline, or he simply tosses it over the ILBs head to Kelce who has a ton of room because the safeties have to get over Watkins and Hill. Cover 3 presents a ton of options.

I can see bringing Bray back for this reason. He has the arm to make the throws (but a nickel brain). I wouldn’t want him as the primary backup, but he’s a fine enough 3.

Man I still wish we would sign Kaepernick. Trading Peters calmed down the anthem pearl clutchers, his name has dropped out of the media cycle so a little less heat, could probably be had for an enormous discount and would be one of the best backup QBs in the league.

Yea a guy that is 5'9 is gonna struggle with the bigger WR's of today, his ACL injury hurt his speed which without I'm not sure what he has.

If you sign him you're thinking 2 years removed from that injury maybe some of his speed returns and he can become a dynamic ballhawk again.
