I guess I just don't value takedowns where you don't accomplish much and the other guy gets up in a reasonably quick amount of time as highly as you do. I recognize that takedowns are hard and impressive, but if you don't do damage, don't hold him down, and don't get a sub attempt in, thats only about as valuable as a decent punch to me.
As far as it being mind-boggling, I don't get that since judging by the stats its probably going to be at least Soto's 2nd-best round. It certainly wasn't the 1st, 4th, or 5th, so we're only left with the 2nd or 3rd. I imagine if I watched it again I'd change my mind to the 2nd round being the closest, but I'd probably still call the 3rd round the 2nd-closest. There might be a temptation to think he did better than he really did in the 1st simply because the expectation was that this fight would end quickly and not be close.
