I agree with the decision in the co-main. Castillo out-wrestled Ferguson, but didn't do much with it. Ferguson did more in terms of fighting and doing damage.

I'm glad I'm in Branson tonight. This might have been the first PPV in years I would have considered not getting so I'm glad I don't have to make that decision.

The championship fight went into the 5th round. Soto actually put up a respectable performance before getting knocked out.

Soto might have won the 3rd round, maybe, but otherwise I have 50 or 49 points for Dillashaw before he got the KO.

TimBone 08-30-2014 10:42 PM

Yea, I heard Soto was really hanging in there.

alnorth 08-30-2014 10:47 PM

Soto might actually get ranked for this even though he lost. It was clear that TJ was on a whole different level, but Soto did not embarass himself at all.

This whole card was generally entertaining. Nothing super-amazing, but there were no crappy fights either. And of course, Soto putting up anything even resembling a challenge when we all expected him to get killed was a nice bonus.

Free fights tomorrow bitches, I've always rooted for Jacare and I think Rothwell Overeem could be entertaining. Fight of the night should be Louzon Chiesa

Just now watched it.

No way did Soto even come close to winning round 3. Probably the most competitive round was round 1. The rest of the fight was just Dillashaw throwing punches in bunches and scoring a takedown in both round 3 and 4.

Soto didn't embarrass himself, but I didn't find that fight all that entertaining. Just seemed like a matter of when Dillashaw was going to land a good shot because Soto spent most of the time closed up like a turtle.

Anyone think the UFC is currently lacking stars? I have watched the product since 2004 and we really don't have many marketable fighters.

Jon Jones and Cormier are the two that come to mind.

He's not very marketable as far as ads go, but the Valasquez fight is probably going to be big.

Silva and Rousey.

The first round was not close at all.

I think Dillashaw probably won all 5 rounds, but if I had to pick the closest, I'd say the 3rd. Others elsewhere on the internet were thinking the 2nd. I hadn't heard of anyone saying round 1 was the closest.

I think you should rewatch round 3, tbh.

Rousey is odd in that she's very commercially marketable, but I don't think she can carry an actual card. She's an excellent co-main to bring up an otherwise-ordinary card though.

I think I'll rely on the wisdom of the masses. Out of the dozens of independent viewers, no one but you (that I've seen) is pointing at round 1. I will say most think round 2 was the closest, so mine wasn't the majority opinion.
