Jets were supposed to be great until Rodgers went down 10 seconds into the season.
Bills were roster paper champs once again and they're now 5-4 and have lost to Zach Wilson and Mac Jones
Dolphins were the next hype train paper champs and they might be the fraudiest of them all, getting shut down by 3 playoff teams while pumping up those point differential numbers against the shitty teams.
Hell, even the Patriots might be worse than people expected.

digger 11-06-2023 08:10 AM

Wait, how do you take the AFC if you don't make the playoffs?

My favorite thing about Monday after a Bills loss is going to Two Bills Drive and seeing the meltdown.
They are still talking about how 13 Seconds wrecked them. lol, I love it.

The Bills pushed 36,000,000 into the future to field this juggernaut.

Can you imagine what the Chiefs would look like if we just pushed 12 or 15?

We would not lose a game.

Teams that operate with limited windows have that luxury. We have a 10+ year window constantly open. Not very responsible to operate like that

I don’t know anyone here that advocated for that level of aggression.

I also disagree that our window is ten years.

There will be ups and downs. Tom Brady went a decade going nowhere with BB.

Andy Reid probably won’t be here 10 years.

Chris Jones and Kelce won’t be either.

We will have a few dud drafts and our young guys we stacked will leave.

We need to win now.

Just gave the best QB in the world a raise on his already huge contract, Chris wants huge money and is currently getting that this year. There's very little money to be had.

They also have only 5 draft picks and Tranquil, Gay, Sneed, Danna, Edwards and Chris alone are FA's. That's half of your starters on defense and a very good role player. They need draft picks to keep this thing going.

The Chiefs are the 1 seed currently. They're gonna be 13-4 at worst. No need to go for broke. That's what messes up teams like ours

They really only had 2 or 3 "down" years in that stretch and it's getting really overblown when we're already using the "no SB victories in 10 years" as a soapbox for winning now, but now we're saying "going nowhere".

2005, 10-6 after winning 3 SBs in 4 years (boo ****ing hoo)
2006, lost by 4 in the AFCCG
2007, lost in the SB after starting 18-0
2008, 11-5 and didn't make the playoffs
2009, WC round loss
2010, 14-2, divisional loss
Then they lost in the SB again and lost in the next two AFCCGs.

At most, that's a 2 year stretch where I guess you could say they were on the struggle bus a bit.

Their window was pretty much Brady's entire time there though, just like the Chiefs' window will be open until Mahomes retires. Anything beyond that is just nitpicking... like you said, there will be ups and downs, and there's of course a chance they could **** it up. Hell, another Mahomes could come along. There's always shit to worry about, but still have to plan with an eye on achieving greatness, which for Mahomes is chasing Brady.

JohnnyV13 11-06-2023 04:27 PM

When did the Bill promise to pay other members of AFC teams way to the Super Bowl? That's mighty nice of them since they'll be on vacation at the time.

Point is they were not real serious contenders every year. 2007 yes absolutely they were but many years they were not a real SB contender.

Same will happen here. Part of the reason we are a bit spoiled too is Mahomes started off so fast on his rookie contract. Every year of prime Mahomes on a rookie contract was a SB contending year. Now that we are paying him there will be actual lulls here and there.

The best GMs miss drafts, Veach will have a a few more Speaks led drafts. Right now is a prime opportunity we should want to cash in.

Quote:

The Bills are done, stick a fork in them

I've watched these past 4 years, the window isn't closing, it's closed.

Allen isn't the answer. Good QB, but he can't win the clutch games. Oh I know fans will throw a multitude of excuses....coaching, personnel, and each have merit on their own right.

Beans and McD need to go, so does Allen. Let Diggs go to. Get what you can in trade value. That should be solid building blocks if the right management team and coaching staff are assembled.

Many will hate this opinion, but if your not accepting the reality of the current situation, then your living your Bills Fandom in la la land.
The current organizational make up, from management and coaching to roster personnel is not taking this team anywhere.

I know, hate it, hate me and a growing number that share this opinion, but it won't change the reality on the ground. This team is going nowhere, and the past 4+ years outcomes project this.

The time for denial is over. It's time to move on to acceptance.

Has he said that? He’s on pace for almost1200 yards this season. Players don’t retire 1 year after gaining 1200 yards unless they want to.

Josh Allen’s post game press conference was brutal. You can not be feeling good about that team at all. He was doing the math and talking about how they need to win 5 games or so to get into the playoffs and it’s going to be tough and so on. They are so clearly lost and unfocused in that locker room. They are definitely feeling the pressure and growing realization that they missed their only real chance in the 13 seconds game.

And this isn’t the first time this season he’s been completed dejected and talking about the big picture instead of the one game.

It's even worse, it's that high because they restructured his deal to double down on this roster again. Bills not firing their Mcdermott after 13 seconds was a big mistake.

Their peak franchise moment under McDermott/Allen was only possible because Honey Badger left the game and Spags went vanilla.

Their fans still don't understand that.

I think he has 3 years left and possibly a 4th barring a major injury. Guy stays on perfect shape. TE's play longer than many and 38 not terribly old age for position.

Wtf? Kelce will likely have in excess of 1,000 yards and around 10 TDs. That is with a missed game due to injury. The offense has not exactly been humming either. If they get things rolling second half of the year those numbers could be better. Stop trying to retire the dude. As long as we are winning and he is productive they are going to have to shove him out the door. Could very easily see him play for 4-5 more years. His chemistry with Mahomes is elite. Even if he is a pure possession type receiver in his last couple of years so be it.

I don't remember any TE's make it to 38 and beyond maybe someone can name them.

Regardless I agree we need to address that position after the season.
I mean is Noah Grey the next man up and I would think he's learned some of Kelce's tricks to getting open. Though there is a learning curve with Mahomes getting used to him.

They're a prime example of why, when you have a QB like that (especially once you pay him) you don't "go all in" and pay vets and extend yourself.

They got old overnight and are now tapped out financially and they haven't drafted well to boot.
