Easily could've come out flat, uninspired, and dropped this game. On the road 4 days after playing the Texans, it's Christmas day, guys are tired, and Andy fields a team that rolled into pittsburgh against a 10 win team and stove their mother ****ing head in. Just a fantastic job of getting these guys ready to go in such a short time.
Spags plan without Jones led to a 5 sack performance by the d line and 10 points allowed, which would have been 7 if an addle brained Justin Reid simply does nothing on the fg attempt. Instead, jumps offside and the missed fg is wiped. Just a master stroke for this coaching staff. Hats off. |
Should be coach of the ****ing year.

Andy Reid could potentially be the first coach to win 3 straight Superbowls, and winning that third in a row he still wouldn't get coach of the year? Ha. Imagine the utter worthlessness of that accolade this year if the Chiefs do pull off the three peat. Oh so you won coach of the year the same year Andy Reid won an unprecedented 3rd straight superbowl? Hmm. Congrats I guess. |
Yeah, victim of his own success.
It's basically impossible for him to win Coach of the year, doesn't matter what they do. "Oh you won 16 games, well we expect you to do that so good job". |

Like they'll look at Kevin Stefanski last year and praise him for getting to the playoffs with that carousel of QBs, but they won't do the same for Andy and all of the injuries he dealt with because he always had Patrick. |

For those who subscribe, Keysor wrote about Andy in his column today.

NFL should just rename ‘Coach of the year ‘ award to ‘Coach who overachieved’ award.
It’s probably going to the Vikings head coach. |
Quote:
But whoever decides this seems to avoid the long-term established coaches, they never get it. It's always the coach who led some no-name or retread QB to the playoffs by the skin of their teeth that gets it. Deburg nailed it, it's probably gonna be the Vikings coach flipping the script with Sam Darnold. I don't like it, just like how I don't like the MVP Award aka "QB who had the best stats this year" award. |
|
Andy deserves COY with the injuries this year and just grinded the team to 15-1. Dumb ass Media will probably give it to Jim Harbaugh because they made the playoffs...
|
Andy definitely deserves at least a couple COY awards by now, but knowing Andy, I'm sure when he looks back on his career, he'll be plenty satisfied with having his name in the Chiefs ring of honor, a yellow blazer, a bust in Canton and a half dozen Super Bowl rings in his trophy case.

If you dont get Andy respect, look at this bozo. Steelers had such history and league respect. Not anymore....

He has the best job in sports. |
Of course Andy had the right approach.
“But since Dec. 11, when the Chiefs had their first practice before facing the Cleveland Browns, Reid held shorter practices than usual. Justin Reid explained that even the tempo between reps was much slower, all designed to help the players recover between games. “It was tough, mentally, physically, especially these past two days, traveling here and figuring out what (the Steelers) are doing and who’s playing and all the injuries,” cornerback Trent McDuffie said after Wednesday’s game. “Three games in 11 days is crazy for anybody, but I thought we handled it very well. We struck together. Nobody held their heads down. Nobody said this is hard or complained. It was just, ‘Let’s go out there and win.’” |
I think we dramatically underappreciate Andy's end game clock management these days. He used to suck at it, but watching both Zach Taylor and Sean Payton try and give the other team the win today makes it clear that we just very rarely screw that stuff up.

We win by small margins, since we have an incredible field goal kicker, and a coach who doesn't care about running up the score. Play situational football, run down the clock, and win the game. |

On this day 12 years ago the Philadelphia Eagles fired Andy Reid after 13 years coaching the team he had a 130-93-1 record. Since then they’ve had FOUR Head Coaches and Andy Reid’s won THREE Super Bowl Titles with the Chiefs! Thank you Philadelphia Eagles!

Marty was a terrible situational coach. Kind of the opposite of Reid in that respect. |
Marty was too loyal to tradition, I think.
“Starters don’t lose a job due to injury,” “rookies have to earn their position.” Put Gannon and Tony G on the field for the entire game in the 97 playoffs and I’m guessing we’re walking away with the win. In the playoffs, your margins are razor thin, and Marty’s adherence to tradition for the sake of tradition was enough to skew his margins every time. Add in the rumors of Lamar being upset at the suggestion that the QB he spent franchise money on would be benched by Gannon and King Carl’s constant whiffs in the drafts and refusing to “lose” in contract negotiations (leading to Neil walking away due to going with Grbac and going cheap on a kicker in 95) and Marty was always going to be doomed in Kansas City. Now, what happened with Marlon McCree and the Chargers? That shit was just curse territory for Marty. |
Before we begin this final trek towards the Three-peat I think we all need to be grateful and appreciate what Andy Reid has given us.
If the Chiefs win on Saturday, we will have seen 16 playoff wins with Patrick Mahomes. How insane is that? Joe freaking Montana only won 16 playoff games in his career. Mahomes is going to pass Montana and be halfway to Brady likely before he turns 30. For all that we suffered. For all the pain and despair, this was so worth it. The football God’s have blessed us with the Andy Reid and he has given us the gift of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that Mahomes passes Brady in playoff wins by the time he’s 37. That’s just..I don’t know man. Tom Brady absolutely destroyed Montana’s records. He obliterated them. It’s insane that Mahomes could pass Brady before he turns 40. Enjoy it fellas. The odds are greatly against something like this ever happening again in our lives. |
Man, he's dorky, but I love that Clark is so invested in the culture and celebrations of the team. Lots of owners are, but when you've had the success he's had for so long with the coaches and front office personnel, it really is like family and not like a boss/employee dynamic.
Congrats to Reid on 300 <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RcPbZS1mLKo?si=qqgfxsAD0-t2zOWK" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Reid with an extra 25-26 hours to prepare for the Bills if they win.
If the Ravens win close to an extra 36 hours. |
so this was his 300th win including postseason

God knew exactly the type of head coach I'd appreciate most for my team's dynasty and gave him to me after 30 years in the desert. We need an AI painting of Andy coming down off the mountain with two tablets holding the Roman numerals of these 4 Super Bowls carved onto them... |
We are so extremely blessed to have Andy. Yes, he has his own short comings and all that, but damn, I really like these bold calls today. Going for it on that 4th down. Going for 2 there. Pulling double aces of a scheme to get the two most important first downs to ice the game.
Extremely pleased. And hats off to Mr. Clark Hunt for getting him and securing him as fast as possible. |
Don't know how much was Andy or Nagy but damn that was a master class. And yes, they do break out new wrinkles in the last two games of the season.
That last first down when Perine slid out of the backfield. They bring Watson and Brown across the formation to join Juju to create traffic in front of the LB. Watch how they run right to him and force him back up the field. Man I knew that ball was going to Perine before the snap.
Bills need a new DC. I'm also pretty sure Thuney let his guy get upfield as fast as possible so Patrick had a throwing lane. |
Awesome playcalling from Andy at the end when they needed those 2 first downs. He could have run the ball and punted, but he went for the kill shot with two passing plays.
