In a Facebook memory of mine from a couple years back, he commented on a post of mine:

“Great things come to those with an attitude of gratitude.”

The post was a public communication between me and a friend, and had nothing to do with him. He just read it and liked it enough to drop that pearl.

Awe man.... this is awful. I really, really liked that guy. We had a few rough stretches from 10-13, but we really grew to like eachother.
