I suspect if they had pulled the official Mizzou Athletics website data with 420,000 likes (rather than a random and unofficial basketball page with less than 5k likes), things might have tracked differently. Of course, that's nearly 1/2 the likes used to build the map you posted here. I tried to find the KU sports page that would correspond, but I was unsuccessful. Through a friend who graduated from KU, I found one for the men's hoops team that has about 220k likes (and is not even the official one), but not an all-sports one. Does KU's AD have a Facebook page? How many people have liked it? |
Let's stipulate you're correct and that Mizzou's AD is more popular than Kansas basketball in the state, even specifically for basketball. You still have to explain why Kansas has such an insanely high popularity in the state. That question cannot be resolved by your hypothesis. Because even if you're right, Kansas should NOT be putting up such high numbers in a state they are (supposedly) so despised in.

That means a mere 6k votes to the OFFICIAL KU basketball page that Facebook used to compare would turn those county maps KU's way. Facebook's method was shoddy. Therefore that map is pretty but says nothing. |
If anyone starts another one of these threads.....nuke the account from orbit

So basically PB lied and tried to decieve yet again to try and make the pilgrims relevant....sad

Pathetic. KU basketball has something like 330k likes while Mizzou has 69k. I'm no mathematician but that is awfully disparate. It stands to reason that you will find tons coming from Missouri. Your logic also breaks down when you consider Kansas basketball is much more likely to have many more "offshoot" or unofficial fan pages that will only increase the data gap. At any rate you can view their maps for several sports, and they all pass the eye test. |

LMAO You should charge admission for your stand up routines, Bitch. |
Mizzou doesn't do too well south of I-60. The Ozarks are a mishmash of fan bases with Arkansas at the top. Mizzou, KU, and Oklahoma all bounce around depending on how their teams are. Missouri State has its share of the pie in the Springfield area, mostly alumni and students. Mizzou has made up ground in the past ten years, though.

Mizzou is down two more players after they got a pot possession charge last night ROFL

Jesus, can we just fire Haith now, or do we have to wait for the inevitable collapse in the first round of the NIT to justify it? |
Don't worry. All of you guys going back and forth for months on end are really doing a great job of convincing the other side that you don't care about them.
So, you've all got that going for you. |

... that comes in behind Duke, UNC and UK in terms of national popularity. |
