Now from a dick showing contest on CP? Well that conference would be middle of the road in football and Tops in basketball.... So not much would change from that stand point.

True.

This is getting nuts. Just kill or seal the deal(s) already.

You could air a "Mega-16" conference basketball tournament on primetime network television. Damn.

No way would it compare to the amount of $$$$ that football would receive, but it still would be a huge deal for that conference... The tourney revenue would be sick as well... No other conference would match it is basketball $$$$...

I could see ESPN or someone offering a sizeable chunk to put that on the air...

Agree...

I would welcome that with open arms. Over being caught with ass hanging out and off to some mid major somewhere...

Done deal: Buffs to announce Pac-10 membership Friday

Unlike Nebraska, it is very hard to be angry at Colorado. Nebraska had the ability to hold everything together, but Colorado, who had nothing under control, was looking at the possibility of a bunch of Texas legislators aggressively forcing the PAC-10 to leave them out so they had to act fast.

Lucky bastards.

Here is what I see happening:

KU, KSU, ISU, Missouri and Baylor keep the Big 12 name and add Utah, BYU, Air Force, Boise State and TCU and then two more out of the group of New Mexico, Colorado State, Tulsa, Memphis, UTEP, UAB and Houston. This is probably the most likely scenario. The addition of Utah, BYU, Air Force, Boise State and TCU probably allows the conference to stay in the BCS.

Not possible. As soon as we drop under 6 members who have played each other for years, through NCAA and/or BCS rules, the conference either ceases to exist or loses all rights to their BCS bid. We might keep the logos and trademarks, but it would effectively be a new conference from scratch as far as the NCAA and BCS is concerned.

They need 6 teams to keep the conference. I guess they could keep the name but it still wouldn't be the same conference and they would lose the BCS designation.

I don't see how they're lucky. Assuming Texas and its ball hangers are headed to the same conference, everything that sucks about the Big XII will simply follow them.
