(And once again I'm a huge fan of the director.)

In TLJ it wasn't important what the studio wants (but we do have 6 of 8 writers on staff who are female. FOR THE FIRST TIME 6 MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS THAT ARE FEMALE!) The head of the studio came out and said that "THE FORCE IS NOW FEMALE."

So, you are a writer/director taking this project over which just happens to be the biggest one of your life.

What do you do?

I love Star Wars movies.

I don't give a shit how they got the plans.

At all.

Not even a little bit. I can't think of a reason to make me watch a film I would give a less shit about.

Just me.

Yes, you do. :D

Report back to us later today about how Rogue One is the greatest Star Wars movie, ever.

What does this even mean?

You get the biggest project of your life while Kennedy is making her stamp on SW's.

And she's already dick-smacked other directors that didn't fit to her liking.

You do the math...

Gareth was the second director hired.

Watch the movie.

I'm out.

I'm ok with not knowing how it ends.

You are talking to the only person you'll ever meet that's never owned a camera or a cell phone.

I still dont think TLJ was that bad. I'm not saying it was great, but in my opinion its not the total shit fest some think it is. I'm not here to try and change people's minds though.

Rogue One though... You need to see that one. Dane is absolutely right about the best trilogy is now R1, ANH, and ESB. Rogue One is the star wars movie none of us knew we needed. Think Saving Private Ryan set in Star Wars rather than WWII. We all know the mission will result in certain death, but they seem to acknowledge we know this, and don't try to act like its a surprise or twist no one survives. I have watched it countless times and I love it.
The score is meh over all, but is great when it needs to be.

Fair enough.

I was willing to let shit pass but your best argument is the least important film in the series is good?

Discuss Thrower 01-13-2018 02:19 PM

Rogue One is better than all of the prequels and probably better than TFA.

Best Trilogy Ever: Rogue One, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back.

Rogue One has superior direction, action scenes, dialog and special effects to any other Star Wars film AND the story is phenomenal. The score is badass, too. I didn't like it at first but as I watched the film over and over again, I realized that Giacchino really nailed the themes and motifs for certain characters and planets.

The last 5 minutes are so ****ing legendary.

when they get to the planet in the 3rd act and what follows is the best "Star Wars" ever put on film. :harumph:

From a movie-making perspective, it's better than any film in the series other than The Empire Strikes Back and that could be debatable.

I'm talking Direction, Cinematography, cohesive story, action scenes, editing and most importantly, dialog and acting.

It might be the most important film in the series, especially considering the fact that if all of those people didn't sacrifice their lives in the hope of saving billions of people, the Empire would have ruled the galaxy, with no hope of the Rebellion destroying the Death Star.

Rogue one is my third favorite SW movie, behind ESB and ANH, and you might even get me to place rogue one above ANH. It's a fantastic star wars movie.

ESB
ANH
RO
RotJ
RotS
TFA
TPM
TLJ
AotC

This sucks, because I think the movie in and of itself is a really good movie, but it just flies off the tracks when lined up with the others. Bleh.

I'm going to fire up Netflix, load up Rogue One, and fast forward to the scene where the rebel fleet drops out of hyperspace.

I can relate to this. Saw it twice on opening day. Liked it better the second time round...but I have not been back to see it since. Something just has not clicked with me about it.

By this team last year I had seen Rogue One 7 or 8 times in the theatre. I saw TFA 10 times in a theatre.

I promised to take my youngest daughter to it (first two time she couldn't go), so we will probably go tonight...but I find myself just meh about it....torn between loving all things Star Wars and wanting a new storyline, and being disappointed in TLJ.

Still have hopes for Solo though...don't let me down Ron Howard :)
