It's not all him. I can agree with that. This is a team game and Im glad alot of us don't forget that. This coaching staff is atrocious. Maybe hed be better with excellent coaching around him? And I really hope he can work with a smart coach that knows how to utilize his talents not only to his advantage but also for the benefits of bettering our football team.

Oh, and I want to see significant improvement such as:

Sapp

<table class="tablehead" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tbody><tr class="stathead" bgcolor="#000000"><td colspan="20">Defense Stats</td></tr> <tr class="colhead" align="right"><td width="8%" align="left">YEAR</td><td width="8%" align="left">TEAM</td> <td>G</td> <td>TOT</td> <td>SOLO</td> <td>AST</td> <td>PD</td> <td>SACK</td> <td>FF</td> <td>REC</td> <td>INT</td> <td>YDS</td> <td>TD</td> </tr> <tr class="oddrow" align="right"><td align="left">1995</td><td align="left">TAM</td><td>16</td> <td>26</td> <td>16</td> <td>10</td> <td>5</td> <td>3.0</td> <td>1</td> <td>0</td> <td>1</td> <td>5</td> <td>1</td> </tr> <tr class="evenrow" align="right"><td align="left">1996</td><td align="left">TAM</td><td>15</td> <td>51</td> <td>41</td> <td>10</td> <td>0</td> <td>9.0</td> <td>1</td> <td>0</td> <td>0</td> <td>0</td> <td>0</td></tr></tbody></table>
I could label him a bust IF he does not increase his sack number next season. You also have to remember that teams ran all over us, so tackles were important since teams weren't passing on us.

Schwartz is fine by me, but he may be close to accepting the Detroit gig. The talks with Pioli could collapse, but I'd be shocked if it turns out that the negotiations were never that serious.

Sapp

Dorsey

Tell me again that those years aren't similar. If Sapp didn't bust, then Dorsey didn't bust.

Did Tampa set an NFL record low number of sacks that year? A franchise record number of points given up? Allow 5 ypc rushing?

So you're complaining that the undertackle didn't run stuff when it isn't his job?

Nope. Which means that Sapp was surrounded by a hell of a lot more talent which gives him a huge advantage over Dorsey.

That kind of proves the opposite of what you seem to think it does.

You mean you can't compare their stats?

Problem with that is that he hardly played undertackle this season. Which is monumentally stupid IMO.

Here's another compelling reason to seriously go after Pioli:

For a long time on this forum Carl Peterson and Chiefs Planet shared the same CP reference. Very confusing at times. After we hire Scott Pioli we can refer to him as SP, leaving Chiefs Planet free to be refered to as CP. If this is not the final reason to hire Pioli, I don't know what it is. I know, I know this is a brilliant thought, but,.... wait,..... what?.......... Jimmy Raye?................??

Never mind.

Sure you can. While also taking their situations into consideration. Meaning that Dorsey's stats look even better considering them.

nychief 01-13-2009 01:38 PM

I don't know why this would be taking so long to resolve, other than Hunt is waiting to interview the Raven's guys.

No, you take them with a grain of salt. You say, wow, they had similar stats, and Sapp was in a MUCH better situation. Dorsey couldn't be labeled as a bust because of that! I'm not saying that he's better than Sapp or anything, I'm just trying to say that hopes were too high for him, and he met realistic expectations easily.

Esp. if Pioli wants one of the Ravens as his coach.... We can only hope!

Could be that Pioli is stringing it out. Playing the Chiefs against the Pats or a team TBD. If Pioli is Clark's guy and he has offered a contract (both rumors at this point) then I would think that Clark would want to sign the deal; however it takes two to tango.
