It cracked me up that they kept showing the "highlights" of the match, but were in reality just replaying the entire match.

She's the biggest smoke and mirrors act in the UFC in quite some time...maybe ever. They all but handed her the belt to start with and she's fought nobodies or fighters that 100% completely fit her one dimensional style and give her easy opportunities to win. Last nights fight was a frickin joke...anyone with half a brain knew Davis didn't belong in there and would get smashed.

I'd like to see her fight an actual good striker with KO power and range...sadly I don't know if that woman is out there and even if she is, I doubt Dana would sign her because of his unhealthy obsession with RR and wouldn't want to see his cash cow get beat.

I'm not drinking the kool aid...sorry...

You underestimate her Judo methinks.

Nah her Judo is world class...not dismissing it at all.

That's why I want to see her fight a top, top striker with some range and movement...be interesting then.

This is what I can't get past. We're talking about 135 pound women. I'm sure a knockout punch is possible, but we're not talking about a world of Tysons that Rousey is ducking here.

It seems to me that she is facing objectively the best competition that is available. We might wish there was a freak knockout artist out there in women's bantamweight, but if there isn't, what can you ask from Rousey until such a chick shows up?

I adore BJ so much. Sucks he's about to lose.

Agreed (other than that adoring part). On paper, it looks like Penn is about to get worked.

I still have to watch because, like I alluded to earlier, unlike boxing crazy shit can happen and heavily-favored MMA fighters can just randomly lose.

alnorth 07-06-2014 09:36 PM

Wow... that was not even close. I'm not sure why Penn was in the ring, but he wasn't there to participate in a fight.

alnorth 07-06-2014 09:43 PM

Penn has basically announced his retirement. Said that Dana told him it was over, and he had to agree

Weidman cemented his status as a champion Saturday. He's a very well rounded guy. Rousey is the best woman fighting today. I was so disappointed in what appeared to be BJ's complete lack of desire to compete. He just didn't seem to want to be there. He had the best take down defense in the game a few years ago.

I'm hoping Cerrone vs Miller lives up to expectations. I like both of them but Cerrone seems to choke in big fights.

Frankie Edgar is my favorite fighter. It just sucks because he's really good, but not good enough to take a belt.

I know it sounds crazy, but I'd be interested to see him at 170. I think his quickness might be enough to steal 3 out of 5 rounds from someone like Hendrix if he can avoid getting caught with that left hand which I think he can do for 5 rounds. It's would be interesting.

Miller does as well.

First ever straw weight fight tomorrow night. Without googling, I'm guessing 115? Love the sexiness of these fights but it would sure be fun to watch a couple heavyweights.
