With McDaniels, the former Patriots offensive coordinator, off the job market, maybe potential Chiefs general manager hire Scott Pioli wouldn't be as inclined to make an immediate coaching change. Then again, maybe Edwards remains because Pioli wouldn't be as inclined to take the Chiefs GM job if he can't bring in McDaniels as his head coach.

• If Pioli and the Chiefs don't wind up striking a deal, here's a name to keep track of in Kansas City's quest to replace general manager Carl Peterson: Mark Dominik. He's Tampa Bay's 37-year-old director of pro personnel, and he not only grew up in Kansas and attended the University of Kansas, but also he began his NFL career as a Chiefs scouting intern in 1994.

Dominik and Chiefs interim president Denny Thum, who is heading K.C.'s search for a general manager, have known each other for years, and Dominik is well respected throughout the league for his personnel judgment. He is largely credited with the Bucs' signing last year of receiver Antonio Bryant, who went on to a breakout season as Tampa Bay's No. 1 pass-catcher in 2008."

Dear God, Don.

You just put 2 and 2 together and came up with 9.

If Pioli had any interest in bringing McDaniels with him, JM wouldn't have accepted a job a full week or two before most jobs are filled.

You can show a lot more posts on one page in your User CP. I only have a total of 42 pages on this thread right now and it doesn't change that often.

Yes, but you can't realistically expect that type of play (making players around you much better than they really are) from a rookie DT.

Why not?

He was drafted for those reasons. Thats what great players do make the players around them better.

I know he's a rookie, and for a rookie Im fine if he starts off bad. At the very least, I expect significant progress as the season goes on. He didn't show that.

this is a guy whom many were drawing comparisons to Warren Sapp, and that was said to be the most polished and NFL ready DT. As of now, they are wrong. im sad to say but Im disappointed because I believed many of the critics.

I think Dorseys a good guy, and I hope he succeeds. Maybe he needs a change from the coaching staff? Or maybe he does need better talent around him?

But regardless, my point is, he is the key. The building block to this defense. At least thats what were led to believe.

That's my thought as well. I think it's looking like Pioli/Ferentz despite all the cries from the natives that Ferentz would never leave Iowa.

How many times do we have to break up this point?

Sapp

<table class="tablehead" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tbody><tr class="stathead" bgcolor="#000000"><td colspan="20">Defense Stats</td></tr> <tr class="colhead" align="right"><td width="8%" align="left">YEAR</td><td width="8%" align="left">TEAM</td> <td>G</td> <td>TOT</td> <td>SOLO</td> <td>AST</td> <td>PD</td> <td>SACK</td> <td>FF</td> <td>REC</td> <td>INT</td> <td>YDS</td> <td>TD</td> </tr> <tr class="oddrow" align="right"><td align="left">1995</td><td align="left">TAM</td><td>16</td> <td>26</td> <td>16</td> <td>10</td> <td>5</td> <td>3.0</td> <td>1</td> <td>0</td> <td>1</td> <td>5</td> <td>1</td></tr></tbody></table>
Dorsey

<table class="tablehead" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tbody><tr class="stathead" bgcolor="#c60024"><td colspan="20">Defense Stats</td></tr> <tr class="colhead" align="right"><td width="8%" align="left">YEAR</td><td width="8%" align="left">TEAM</td> <td>G</td> <td>TOT</td> <td>SOLO</td> <td>AST</td> <td>PD</td> <td>SACK</td> <td>FF</td> <td>REC</td> <td>INT</td> <td>YDS</td> <td>TD</td> </tr> <tr class="oddrow" align="right"><td align="left">2008</td><td align="left">KAN</td><td>16</td> <td>46</td> <td>32</td> <td>14</td> <td>1</td> <td>1.0</td> <td>1</td> <td>0</td> <td>0</td> <td>0</td> <td>0</td></tr></tbody></table>

Tell me again that those years aren't similar. If Sapp didn't bust, then Dorsey didn't bust.

Or, it could be Schwartz, or someone we're not even expecting.

Or, it could not be Pioli at all, and this whole thread has just been a giant goat****.

Again like others say cant blame all this on him. I personally blame CP, Herm, Gun and Dick.

Reguardless of if we get Piolo, and somehow Herm's allowed too stay. GUN and that entire Defensive staff better be GONE.

Well Im with ya. He is the guy I would choose as well from any of our DLineman. Quite frankly, I don't think we'd be left with a choice? Hes a top 5 pick and there is a lot invested in him. No use giving up on him?

It's not all him. I can agree with that. This is a team game and Im glad alot of us don't forget that. This coaching staff is atrocious. Maybe hed be better with excellent coaching around him? And I really hope he can work with a smart coach that knows how to utilize his talents not only to his advantage but also for the benefits of bettering our football team.

You'll have to bring it up many, many times to penetrate the skull of the average message board tard.

Can't really say that. You have a top prospect coming out of the draft. Any team that finishes with a poor record and has a high draft slot knowing that they have a chance to draft one of the better players out of the country is sure as darn hell gonna depend on that player to be one of the building blocks on their team.
