Dan Campbell is siding with CJ:

nice, Campbell wants his holdout to last past week one...Yeah Chris get your money lol

Remember when Chris was trying to get Leveon Bell to sign with KC?
I hope he remembers how poorly that worked out for Leveon by holding out like he did. |
Quote:
2. Leveon completely fell off as a running back when he came back Neither of those is going to happen to Chris Jones. |
Doesn't sound like Jones showed up today. Thought he might with TC over but maybe he is waiting until the week before, who knows though.

Not much time left before the season starts. If he doesn't show this week he may not play week 1. He's being a damn moron.
|
Uh if he misses real games he'll do nothing but cost himself tons and tons of money...
All the fines etc would cut his yearly salary and then he would not get a big FA deal either. |

Quote:
He's not in danger of starving on the street. Pride, stubbornness or whatever you want to call it can sometimes win out. |
Quote:

His effort will not be the same if he does play.
|
Doesn’t seem like CJ has a coherent end game strategy with his hold out.
|
Quote:
|
Not playing well would be detrimental to him getting more money on the next contract.
Seems unwise. |
Quote:
He’d either come off as unmotivated or declining. Neither is a positive when you want another big contract. |
Yeah man, this is finally starting to look pretty grim
Dude needs to pull his head out of his fifth point of contact |
Honestly us fans should hope Jones sits out till week 11(still think its week 11 with extended season?). He can sit out till week 11 and still come back for a pro-rated season but still count this as his last contract year. Anything past week 11 and its like this year didn't happen and he will still have a year under contract with KC.
More so if he does stay away till week 11 that means he has forfeited about $15M(10 reg season games plus 3 pre-season games and camp missed). If you take that $15M away from his total of about $29M cap hit this year it means next year he should be able to be tagged for only around $20M. We have week 10 bye so I could see coming back then and getting in two weeks of practice and ready for week 11 vs Philly. And YES I still think the teams wins enough over those 10 weeks that we are still a playoff team hahaha. |

Drama doesn't lead to SB's. So no, he needs to show up and do his job then let this stuff take care of itself. |
I don't know how this is going to end, but:
If he holds out, he's a huge piece of shit and I hate him If he plays, he's a swell guy and I love him |
Quote:

I think he'll come back this week. If he doesn't then I think they're gonna put him on reduced snaps early in the season.

He's still the only player I know who has lost a game with his mouth (Ryan)!!! |
Obviously a trade is not ideal, but this is a key year and we're the SB favorite.
Let's say for shits and grins its irrevocably broken and we're at an impasse: We'd need to trade CJ to 1) an NFC team, 2) who has money to pay him, 3) that is willing to send us a 1 + some other shit. We'd then need to trade for a serviceable DT to get us through 2023. Veach could get pretty creative in the '24 draft with a Brockers or a Marvin Harrison Jr. type of move, if we don't go OT or DT. |
This is all so very sad. My absolute favorite defensive Chief of all time.
|
Options in order of likelihood:
1) Jones reports after the Browns PS game. 2) Jones is traded after said game. 3) Holdout continues into the season. |

I think they would be the dream trade partner, if we go that route. |

Meh, he might wait until the end of the week now that the weather is ridiculously hot this week.
|
Quote:
The same reasons the Chiefs are hesitant to pay his number are detriments to trading him. Then you ask some team to hand over picks to us and a big contract to an aging DT? If we trade him, just prepare to be disappointed with the comp. |
Quote:
Their HC is the Eagles former DC, so maybe he could be tempted.... I dunno. Can you imagine we win the SB and end up with the #1 overall pick? |
TRADE HIS ASS. GET THE DRAFT PICKS. 0UR OFFENSE HAS PROVEN IT CAN CARRY US. MEANWHILE WE HAVE A SOLID LB AND DB GROUP
VIRCH CAN OVERHAUL A LINE IN ONE OFFSEASON |
They do also have Houstons pick.

The Cardinals are tanking.
It would have to be a team with a rookie QB trying to win. Chicago, maybe Seattle. But it's not gonna happen at this point. |

There just aren’t that many teams in that specific situation. |

Doubt Mahomies, Trav, and Andy are gonna be super cool about that. |

There’s a negative probability they’d trade either of those for the right to pay Chris Jones 30mm/yr. Get this out of your heads. |

Ok Chris. Your extended summer vacation is over. Time to report to the team. (Tomorrow preferably)

Garrett was the most double-teamed DE last year. Put CJ next to him and those two would rape any OL. |
Quote:
Yes. He’s got no real trade value given his contract demands. At this point I make take almost anything and tell him to GTFO. We don’t need any distractions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

At this point in the process I think there is a 99.99999% chance we don't pay Chris Jones.

It really would. Basically the 2023 version of Neil Smith and DT. But probably more nasty. Completely unfair. Fortunately there's almost no chance of it. But it would be pretty impressive to see every week I'm sure. |

Chris be playing |
Jones is a perfect fit for Chicago dammit!

How much longer before some real estate agent makes a fortune on CJ’s new stately mansion in KC? I’m tired of waiting. Let’s go!

It was in a different way, but Berry’s negotiations absolutely got this contentious.

Chris Jones is POUTING because they didn't sign Frank Clark... so he's trying to get as much money as he can, IMO.

would love to see more data on NFL holdouts, the outcome, and how the team did
like this was cool https://www.oddsshark.com/nfl/do-nfl-holdouts-work only RB though |
