Kafka was his OC in NY. They run a similar offense when it comes to routes and verbiage.

Mitchell Schwartz even mentioned it in a tweet a few days ago.

Yeah coaches have to do a better evaluation in practice and training camp.

Jared started 10 games as a rookie and had 9 sacks. He had 4 sacks in his first 5 nfl games. That old staff just referred vets, but Jared was on the field being disruptive.

Toub announced this afternoon Toney is the new full time returner

Quote:

The Kansas City Chiefs (officially) have a new punt returner.

This was thought to be the case after new Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney was the man back for every punt against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10. But while speaking to the media on Thursday, special teams coordinator Dave Toub confirmed the change from rookie Skyy Moore.

Toney was only able to try for a return on two of the Jaguars’ six punts, averaging 5.5 yards per return.

“I can’t wait to see him get a ball kicked to him,” said Toub of Toney. “We haven’t had that option, really. [The Jaguars] did a good job last week of using the sidelines and hanging the ball up pretty good. Sooner or later, he’s going to get one kicked to him and we’re going to find out what he’s got. But I got a pretty good feeling about it, though.”

Toney has the advantage of having returned punts as a college football player at Florida, which is experience Moore has not had.

Toub also said that he likes how Toney is very courageous — and sometimes, perhaps too courageous. While Toub likes aggression in a returner, he acknowledged the Chiefs need to “pull him back a little bit.”

“He’s got to do a little bit better with some reads, but that’s part of the learning experience,” said Toub. “He’s young — and he’s going to get better and better. He’s something with the ball in his hands.”

Where are the warts this dude was supposed to come with (?) b/c he's been great so far.

If he just wanted out of NY I guess the flip side of the coin is the day could come when he could turn on the Chiefs (if he did it once etc).

That is an observation in passing not something to worry about.

Appears its going to turn out as an excellent trade at a position we need the help. Daboll seems like a good coach IDU why he didn't make it work.

Daboll couldn't make it work because Toney wouldn't do it exactly the way Daboll wanted. Daboll was especially frustrated with the string of injuries - they expect guys to play.

LMAO Still running with the narrative that Daboll is just a typical crotchety Patriots Way flunky, eh? Yep. They got tired of his nagging little injuries. The question is really "how hurt was he?"

It's entirely possible he was more pouting than actually hurt. Which is on him, of course.

Based on the coaching and management change ect. i have to think he just didnt want to catch balls from Daniel Jones. He may have just rode the guy hard in the film room and found himself on the shit list.

Knowing he has the best qb on the planet throwing to him will cure a lot of what ails him. If he can get open Patrick will feed him

That's right!!

I'm upgrading my projections to 7 rec 145 yds 1 TD, 2 rushes for 15 yds 1 TD

He's going to be the #1 story of the weekend.

And people are worried about Andy Reid having a heart attack?

You see the shade of red that guy turned?

And I swear Daboll has put on like 100 lbs since becoming a head coach. In another year he'll be giving Mark Mangino a run for his money

Age, weight and diet are the concerns with Andy.

On GameDay, the guy never gets bent out of shape about anything, save for the extra horrific officiating in that Raider game. You just never see the guy get angry.

The sideline on Sundays quite literally is Andy's happy place.

Guy runs pretty violently, I'm not surprised he deals with injuries often.

Even when he's not making contact, the ferocity in his jab step probably puts a ton of strain on his lower body.

ThaVirus 11-30-2022 01:29 PM

I know there's a lot of randomness and luck involved in the injury department, but I feel like some dudes just have a knack for holding off injuries and other guys don't.
