That Wolf's Den group ****ed him up as well IMO.

Any time Bisping is the top guy in camp a guy like Rampage has no shot to improve.

This is very true. When you line your camp with mediocre fighters who gets to improve?

Just the crappy fighters, that's part of the reason Fedor hasn't been keeping up.

Hamill is a wrestler, and he's not got a great chance of standing with Page so I wonder if a fight like this could take Page out of his comfort zone and force him back into things he used to do.

I do too, if Page keeps it standing. Hamill just isn't much of a match for Page toe to toe.

While we both share a love of MMA and Tamba you crack me up, Guardian. What did you really expect starting "the other thread"?

I'll still watch this card even with the main event being postponed. I went to UFC 96 with Rampage/Jardine as the main event and that card ROCKED!

Just to watch the douche bags roll out. And they did in full force. I was not disappointed.

Except for the main event......

Sfeihc 05-10-2011 01:57 PM

Post main event at UFC 96 Evans came in the cage and had that epic face to face with Rampage. Remember the "black on black crime" quote from Rampage? Funny stuff. It was also the last UFC event that Mask from tapout attended before his untimely death.
I remember(quite drunk by that time) the main event as being pretty good especially the third round. Carwin and Hamill had HUGE KO's.

There will be some really good fights, I dog Brian Stann, hate Frank Mir and really like Torres and Palaszewski. I'm talking myself into it.

That was some brutal shit. That was Bones only "loss" because he hit him with that downwards elbow.

I watched his next fight after that, a loss IIRC & he just didnt look right, like all of the swagger & 'i'm the big bull here' attitude had been beaten from him.

Actually he has beaten Jardine and Ortiz in his only 2 fights since Jones. Jones has destroyed everyone put in front of him, so you can't knock Matt too much for that loss.

Sfeihc 05-10-2011 02:42 PM

Jones beating down Hamill is karma biting him in the ass for the way he danced around after kicking Munoz in the head. Munoz was OUT and not moving for quite awhile but instead of checking on him Hamill ran around the octagon.

Hmm, my memory fails me. I just remember that he didnt look the same after that fight. Being viciously manhandled & beaten so easily has got to take a lot of starch out of a guy. Kinda like Sandman Irvin, wheres he been since Silva decked him cold in seconds with a straight jab?

Maybe, but Hamill was probably never going to be a top 5 guy, more like 10-15. He has beaten a few quality opponents and really only has lost to Jones and Franklin.

That's true, he did beat Bisping even if he didn't get the nod. I just don't think he has the ability to hang with Jackson

I ready to go Jackson probably not, but it really sounds like Rampage just doesn't love to fight anymore.

raybec 4 05-13-2011 07:14 AM

Lesnar out at UfC 131. He has diverticulitis again. Carwin will replace him but that's probably the better fight anyway. I had no desire to see Lesnar get punched and run in circles until he fell down.....again

Edit- That's a lie, I loved seeing that but I think Carwin will be a better fight. Neither one of them beats Cain though, IMO.

He's not presenting near as much of the total knob image on the TUF show but he still can't take a punch.

Struve impressed the hell out of me in Silva vs. Sonnen, forget the name but some big american just beat the dogsh*t out of him in the 1st, lip was hanging on by a thread, honest to God i thought he might die in his corner.

He appeared to be in real shock, beet red from the head down & barely able to walk or talk... comes back in the 2nd & knocks the guy out.

Freebie this weekend but not much on the card, Guida vs Pettis is the main event.

Meh.

I've pretty much accepted that GSP will destroy who ever is put in front of him in his weight class. I won't be buying this unless it's a loaded fight card like the last one.

Diaz will give him a better fight than anyone has for 2 years. Having said that GSP will still win but he'll have to do it with takedowns and submission defense. Diaz is an outstanding boxer.

I think it's probably going to end up a mirror image of GSP/Hardy.

I'd like to get excited about it, but we hear that about everyone GSP fights. GSP is just a class above th rest. And his fighting style doesn't offer the excitement that i wanna see when I pay $50.00.

Pretty much only paying for this if the rest of the Fightcard is worth it.

The difference being GSP won't have full impunity on the ground. Diaz is a BJJ black belt under Cesar Gracie. He's no Dan Hardy.

It won't matter when you are on your back the entire fight. It's not like he is going to submit GSP from his back.

Who does everyone have for the main event?

I'm gonna say Carwin has learned his cardio lesson & overwhelms a smaller Dos Santos with power. But if he hasnt tightened that up, it could be rough for Shane, JDS is very precise with his strikes.

Edit - Shane def learned his lesson, he looks WAY slimmer.

pr_capone 06-11-2011 09:25 PM

Holy mother of God!

Shane just got TheGuardiand!

Easy 6 06-11-2011 09:25 PM

Carwin better start letting his punches go, pronto.

pr_capone 06-11-2011 09:28 PM

Dos Santos is a pussy. Guardian would have finished the fight in the first.

Easy 6 06-11-2011 09:44 PM

I knew Carwin wasnt the same technical boxer as JDS, but surely didnt see this coming. Carwin was outclassed in every way, couldnt even hold the guy down for more than ten seconds.

WTF are you talking about?

I thought the ref should have stopped it. Shane was not intelligently defending himself, as his face indicated right after.

Shane looked old. It seems like once most guys are over 35 there is a sharp decline in performance for the most part. Randy is a freak, Silva is still looking tough, and Florian did well but I thought he looked a lot slower then I remember him before not that he was ever that quick anyways.

Yeah, Carwin looked really old after the first round. I didnt stumble onto the free stream until about midway through Florians 3rd round, he's no spring chicken.

But i was pleasantly shocked to see Carwin looking so trim, i thought it was going to do wonders for him, getting rid of a lot of that bulk & easing his heart workload... but it wasnt enough to make up for the years & the fact that even had he been the same age, his hands were never as fast as JDS.

I really wanted to get this fight but at $45.00 that was just crazy for that card.

On a side note-I watched the pre lem fights on Spike and Joe Rogain sure looked like he was tweeking=his eyes were bulging out of his head.
