On occasion, yes. Sometimes he makes himself sick, he’ll smell and walk away.

I think all carbon based life forms do that.

Here’s a better picture of my pupper. Yes, he’s allowed on the counter because he’s awesome. A little blurry, he doesn’t stay still for too long.

How quickly does he go through a 50lb bag of dog food ?? 5 days ? I bet cleaning up his poop you probably have to use your ATV with a blade

So I got bombed on at work because I feed my dog wet and dry food. We’ve always gave our dogs both growing up, am I missing something?

Same here. Mines healthy, in shape and likes his food. He does eat his canned food first and saves the dry until later in the day though.

I don't know about that but you should consider buying something better than Pedigree. That stuff is garbage. Check out http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/

That link I put in here is a bit dated. I mean, there are still a lot of foods that are on there. But there are also a lot of new varieties that are not listed. It appears that they stopped adding to it several years ago. Still, there is a lot of good info on how to choose a good dog food. Here is their About page:

Quote:

About Dog Food Analysis

Why does this site exist?

Because commercial pet food is, historically and on average, so incredibly awful. Really, that is the reality of the commercial pet food industry. We are bombarded with advertising that conjures up images of plump juicy chickens and garden fresh vegetables, told that the various foods around are scientifically formulated to provide our pets with every nutritional advantage and meet every need. At the same time, many of us feel we need a science degree just to interpret the labels. But the reality is quite different. “Scientifically formulated” is a term with no meaning. Do you scientifically formulate your dinner? Do you think you need to? Sounds quite ridiculous, doesn’t it. No, you (hopefully) consume a range of fresh foods. That’s what your pets should be consuming too.

Sadly, that’s not what goes into most pet foods. Many pet foods are made up mostly of grain fragments (the left overs from the human food industry), with a small amount of meat thrown in and the whole thing coated with recycled used (and frequently carcinogenic) fats to make it palatable to our pets. In most cases, these are things we’d refuse to feed our pets if we saw them in their raw state. So why would we feed them when they are transformed into dry extruded pellets? Why are we feeding carnivores on grains anyway? We wouldn’t try to feed fish to a cow, so why try to feed grains to our carnivorous cats and dogs? The answer is simple – it is far cheaper than feeding meat, and in any case, we can’t make kibble without them (it won’t stick together). But it has nothing whatsoever to do with good or species-appropriate nutrition for our pets. Neither cats nor dogs have any evolved need of carbohydrates in their diet at all, and these are readily converted to fat.

It is not the point of this site to explain what is wrong with many commercial pet foods, or to expose the many scandals and unpleasant practices that have gone on in this industry. If you’re interested, it is easy to find that information for yourself. You’re on the internet now: just do a search for information on things like “4-D meats”, “phenobarbitol in pet food”, “foods pets die for” and “what’s really in pet food”. You will probably find the results an unpleasant surprise.

Rather, the intent of this site is to give an assessment of the various commercial foods available, based on the ingredient information given by the manufacturer. No food can magically be better than the ingredients used to make it, and the information on this site constitutes our opinion of those ingredients and the overall species-appropriate quality of the food.

The ratings given and comments made about the foods assessed on this site and ingredients listed are the opinion of the Editors, who are a small team of volunteers each with a long standing interest in dog nutrition. If you disagree with their opinion, you are free to ignore it (do not email us because you are upset that the product you choose has been criticised or badly rated – we do not control what the manufacturer puts in the food). Click here to see how we assess the foods.

Every effort has been made to ensure that the ingredients listed for each food is correct at the time of publication. Manufacturers do sometimes make changes to their formulas however, and you should check that the information given on this site matches that currently given by the food manufacturer before relying on the assessments made on this site. If you notice any discrepancies, we would be pleased to be advised of it. You can do this by emailing us via the link on the contact page.

Your food not listed? If we have overlooked a product that you’d like our opinion on, you can request a review be added. Again, you can do this by emailing us via the link on the contact page. Please be sure to include an online resource where product information – most especially the ingredient list – can be accessed (we cannot review a product without knowing what is in the food).

DogFoodAnalysis is a part of BoxerWorld.com, one of the largest and longest running dog forum communities on the internet. With many thousands of questions and health related queries in the feeding and nutrition forums on BoxerWorld over the last decade, many of which relate to how to decipher pet food ingredients and advertising - to sort the good from the bad - we realised the need for a dedicated site to help our members choose good quality foods for their pets. Want to join us? Click the forums link on top. We welcome owners of all breeds (there are many members on the site who don't own boxers).

I've been cleaning up and re-organizing my kitchen for three days. Hey, I know, fun you can't buy at any price. Meesh Meesh has been supervising. It's been nice to hang out with Meesh and Neighbor Cat the last few days. Last night we put a fire in the fireplace and watched the Mizzou-Florida and Mizzou-Tennessee games that I had Tivo'ed.

Most dogs chew, never met a pupper who didn’t like to gnawl on things. Boxers need a lot of room to run around, hyper dogs. I use to have one myself, excellent dogs and great with kids.

They have the WORST farts ever, prepare yourself.

Advice? Yeah, don't get a boxer. Way too hyperactive, and it doesn't end when they get out of the puppy stage. They are usually pretty sweet dogs, but they come on way too strong in almost every situation. But if that's what you want, go for it.

My boxers are fairly laid back at this point. They get worked up when certain people are around or when the kids get home though. But its been a process.

I've got two cats, two boxers [and one is pregnant again we think] and a rott. Been looking for the right rott male pup. I need a shop dog.

My lab used to somehow get the insoles out of my shoes and chew the shit out of them, never chewed the shoe, I think he know I'd kill him.

I cured him by rubbing pepper juice on the bottom of the insoles on an old pair of shoes. I wore them to twist some wrenches and left them out for him, he never touched my shoes again.

Vet said he was bonding, I said he was getting ready to become a crate dog...We both laughed later because Wilbur will still leave the kitchen if I am chopping hot peppers.

I strongly recommend doing this to furniture you want to insure doesn't get chewed.

I don't recall him ever farting and he got small amounts of table scraps. Lots of fried egg yokes too.

Your dog needs toys to destroy! Ham flavored nylon bones, leather chews, balls Heres a great list. but chewers and destructive dogs need toys and things that get your approval when they destroy them. Never let them chew bumpers or fetch batons but always give them something to go chill with and chew the ****out of after training like a big ass rope bone. When they get stinky, and they will, just toss em in the washer.

Taco Bell talking Chihuahua Toy? My lab will chew the shit out of anything with a squeaker in it but really thinks these are the real deal. He will rip off the eyes then rip off it's head and get the "talk box" out and growl and bark at it and when he finally breaks it he takes what's left the stuffed dog and puts it with his other toys.
He gets one for his Bday and Christmas or anytime my SO tells him to play bad ass. which is very seldom. She has him to where his his hair on his back will stand straight up, he'll growl, show his choppers, and bark like no other time. She tell him to do it when someone frightens her, such as when someone she isn't expecting comes to the door, It's ****ing hysterical as the dog wouldn't hurt a, well maybe a rabbit??? He knows to stay away from our
giant heron and only chases the geese and not the ducks.

Well shit. Not sure what to do. Any advice?

Dodger swallowed one of these damn spoons. He's a medium to large size dog. About 60lbs. Is that something he could pass? Just keep an eye on him? Have the vet remove it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Damnit, can't get pic to upload. It's a little plastic spoon about 2 3/8 in long and 1/2 in. wide.

Got it uploaded

Yea, the bastard doesn't like anyone watching when he takes a dump.:D

Been trying to keep an eye on him since yesterday and he catches me looking at him through the window when he's hunched up about to drop a load and he'll stop and go walking around the yard until he can't see me. So now I have to go find his latest spot everytime. LMAO

Ha, he'd probably be an improvement on some of the Chinese food we have around here. Seriously though, crab rangoon loaded up with heavy chunks of raw onion is a thing around here. It's inedible really. Rant over.

Sorry to hear that, stay strong and get another...

You might call the vet. A laxative would probably do a lot of good.

My moron ass dog ate some wood chips about that size when he was a puppy and they got hung up. Vet was able to massage them out and give a laxative and it passed easily. I'm sure the spoon will be better because it's smoother but a laxative will help.

I'll keep that in mind. Looks like I'll be inspecting his logs and see if it comes out for now. As long as he acts ok I'm gonna wait until Monday to call the vet.

Hope everything is OK. I think with how round that is it should pass OK.

Glad he's OK and glad I'm not going to have to pay $100's.

I quit letting my boy cats go out free a long time ago. All they do is fight and end up with a $200 vet bill. Now I keep them on the screened in back porch where they are safe, but still feel like they're "outdoors."

My Mama Cat passed away a few years ago, she'd go outside when she wanted and never left the yard. I have a little girl cat named Ginger now, and she goes out occasionally, but not for long, and she stays close to the house too. i don't live on a busy street, so that helps as far as car danger. Really sucks to have a pet hit by a car or killed by a dog. Really sad when either happens.

Dogs eat the weirdest stuff! Glad your pooch is OK.

Dayze 02-12-2018 01:22 PM

my friend growing up, had a basset hound.
I can recall that dog eating a Tippins aluminum pie pan.
then, a few months later, eating an entire tube of Preparation H

whenever my dogs eat something weird, I always remember that dog and don't freak out too much.

Dogs would have gone extinct a long time ago if they hadn't evolved the ability to overcome whatever it is they eat. LMAO

The best news out of all that is now you don't have to buy a new spoon.

Harley Draft Profile:

Pros:
-Extremely quick in and out of her cuts
-Can change direction instantly and generate power to reach full speed
-Top speed is one of the best in draft class
-Lateral movement from a standstill is outstanding
-Excellent leaping capabilities

Cons:
-Not a lot of tape of Harley consistently catching the ball
-Small frame, lacks true NFL size
-Sometimes positions herself in areas where it is hard to escape contact
-Sheds (probably)

My house sits 250 feet off of the road, albeit a busy road. My little girl cat had never been close to it (to my knowledge), but my boy cat I knew had. It appeared that she followed him over there on that particular night, and didn’t make it to the other side like he did.

Few things have ever broke my heart like that. There’s a feeling of ‘What could I have done? Why didn’t I see this possibility and do something about it?’... got an invisible fence coming in this week sometime which will be used for my boy and the new girl that we soon bring in.

But no matter how safe they will be, I’ll always have that void left because she is gone. I can’t explain how special she was. She loved people and had so many unique traits.
