Huh? Now I'm more confused. What does MHM have to do with this?

Knowmo didn't call Mahomes an Uncle Tom. He called MHM that after MHM kept shutting down his shitty attempts at trolling. Also left for literal years after that LMAO

CB Byron Jones signed with the Miami Dolphins last year for 2020 $17,600,000, 2021 $16,100,000, 2022 $16,475,000, 2023 $16,200,000, 2024 $16,125,000 for a total of $82,500,000.

Xavien Howard has a contract 2019 $10,349,830, 2020 $13,325,000, 2021 $13,500,000, 2022 $14,375,000, 2023 $13,400,000, 2024 $12,250,000 for a total of $77,199,830.

He wants his contract to be as good or better than Byron Jones.

It is exciting to think about the Chiefs adding a talent like Howard, but I do not see how you add him under the cap space that the Chiefs face now and in the future.

A couple of factors to consider in regards to him.

1. When he signed his last contract he was the highest paid CB in the league. He has lived up to that, but is unhappy because he no longer is the highest paid in the league, or even on his team (pretty sure he would not have been saying what he was saying had he not performed at that salary). He wants to be paid top of the market and if we traded for him he would cost a premium in picks and salary.

2. While we could pay him with Clark's money when we inevitably cut him, which is easier to replace in the draft? Clark or Howard? We could reasonably only pay one.

We could have had Breeland for $4 million, Howard would want around $12-$14 million.

Well thats like saying you could have Kpass or DT. Comparing apples to cherry tomatoes lol.

Here the only question we need to ask.

How does he help us match up better on TB to help us beat them in the Super Bowl rematch?

That’s literally all that matters.

More good corners vs their multitude of recievers and tight ends? Seems like he probably helps.

If they are confident in Ward matching up effectively in a huge game with Mike Evans, we don’t need to make a massive investment into a guy like Howard (most likely losing first and second rounders and a big chunk of cap space). They are 4 deep at WR with high quality guys and Gronk scored twice on our defense.

I’d argue that adding a guy like Howard is worth the exchange of compensation, but I may be wrong.

Evidently 2 playoff teams are talking to Miami about a trade.

With us only having Sneed, Fenton and Keyes under contract after this year I’d be willing to bet we are one of them.

I bet we're not. I mean, sure, im sure they inquired. But that's probably about as far as it got

Well, we can disagree but think about this for a second…

When we go to nickel defense, Mike Hughes is one of our outside corners when we’re fully healthy.

I doubt Veach is fully comfortable with Hughes or Baker consistently matching up with Evans, Godwin, Brown and Miller. Especially with the chance we may not have Clark helping apply pressure.

I could be wrong…but I think Veach will see if he can get a deal struck with Miami that makes sense for both teams if for nothing else than to raise the price for another playoff team.

Dunerdr 07-28-2021 04:02 PM

I’m all for Howard but we did pretty damn good against their wide outs boss, the tight ends killed us and running backs. Thornhill was hurt in the afccg and only played like 22% of the SB. That’s a big part of our problem and pass rush.

It's not about fit, interest or desire. We simply can't afford him.
