I want to take this opportunity to bury a hatchet. I was wrong to refer to MU fans as "Mizzouchebags" and will now honor their request to be identified going forward thusly:

I'm glad I got to visit Columbia before I made my college decision. I'm just not suited for Midwestern flagship college towns. Fayetteville and Stillwater are closer to my speed.

Kansas continues it's elite status in college athletics with Class 1 certification of the new track facility. Only 105 of these tracks exist in the world, this is the 5th in the United States.

KU joins Oregon, Auburn and Arkansas at the collegiate level.

The status of the "KU Track" has been such a topic of discussion in these threads I thought it was worth mentioning this accomplishment.

In order to be classified for IAAF Class I certification, Rock Chalk Park had to meet several tight tolerances:

• The cross slope of the main oval had to be less than 1.00%

• The downward slope of the straightaway for the running events had to be less than 0.10%

• The lengths of the 100m, 110m, and 200m events had to be within 0.010m of the proposed distance

• The lengths of the 400m had to be within 0.030m of the proposed distance

• Elevations and lengths for the report were measured to the nearest millimeter

Good luck getting anything that straight to come out of Columbia, MO.

You must be very proud of KU's measuring department. I don't know why, with such a huge accomplishment, you'd be concerned about Columbia, MO. Seems weird.

When asked about what KU was going to do with the old track surrounding the football field, KU officials were quoted as saying, "We have a football field?".
