If MU wasn't getting invited wouldn't Alden, Deaton, etc. be playing major damage control right now? Herding senators around, putting a good face on it.

There's a difference between an incredulous college basketball reporter relaying comments about how people "cant imagine" KU would be left out, and "they will probably land in a power conference", and that actually happening. It's easy for some random AD from Big 10 to say "Kansas? Hell, thats such a great basketball school, I'm sure they will land on their feet." Ask him "well, why don't you start lobbying your colleagues to invite them?" and you'll probably get a bunch of looking away and excuses about how it wont work for their particular conference.

Iowa has a proud tradition of sports that extend beyond football. Iowa has academics to which NU may someday aspire.
Both campuses are in extremely nice, livable cities.
NU will be a welcome addition to the B10. In my experience NU fanbase is midwest class like Iowa's.

Much like many other schools, Iowa has the edge on everything once you get outside of football, I have no problem admitting that. But as far as football goes, Iowa fans around here have this weird inferiority complex when it comes to NU. They're always crowing about how much better they are, when in reality, they're pretty much the same. It's probably not like that outside of Omaha, but with us being right on the border the fans are constantly clashing. It's going to be crazy once they start playing every year (assuming this happens).

the source of that is apparently the "Petros and Money Show" on an LA radio station and on XM. Where did they get that? No idea, I didnt hear it.

I think the Kansas Board of Regents would force a possible conference bid to take them as a package deal. Kind of like how the Texas schools are saying they won't go unless Baylor goes with them as well.
