Iowa has won two conference championships in the last ten years. 02 and 04. Probably would have won one last yr if their QB didn't get crunched in the endzone of the N'Western game.

Nebraska, zero.

I don't think movement with the Big 10 is done but I would be shocked...absolutely shocked if Nebraska's invite was taken off the table.

Not gonna happen.

My thinking as well.

They'd be looking to get to at least 14, IMO.

bullshit, momma's boy.

IF ... big IF ... but if Notre Dame does decide to join a conference then what i described is most likely what is going to happen.

the only long shot in my scenario is whether Notre Dame joins a conference.

Here's the year by year comparisons of NU and Iowa over the last 10 years.

2000 Iowa 3-9, NU 10-2 NU

2001 Iowa 7-5, NU 11-2 NU

2002 Iowa 11-2, NU 7-7 IA

2003 Iowa 10-3, NU 10-3 PUSH

2004 Iowa 10-2, NU 5-6 IA

2005 Iowa 7-5, NU 8-4 NU

2006 Iowa 6-7, NU 9-5 NU

2007 Iowa 6-6, NU 5-7 IA

2008 Iowa 9-4, NU 9-4 PUSH

2009 Iowa 11-2 NU 10-4 IA

Iowa had a better record 4 of the years, NU had a better record 4 of the years, and two years they had the same record. But Iowa is SOOOOOO much better.

You did not just say that.

Very well, but those were both shared titles, and if we're playing hypotheticals NU would've won one last year if the corrupt Big XII officials hadn't put a second back on the clock for Texas.

Think the only chance is if the Big 10 goes to UND tomorrow and say "ok, last chance, come now then we're done and you'll get a 1/12th split. Later, who knows" and the Irish stun everyone by saying ok. Highly doubtful.

Nebraska Vs Iowa (26-12-2)

Last two times Iowa and Nebraska have played W 42-7 and W 42-13

STFU

Billay. I said ten years. 1999 is not ten years. Count w/ me.

2000 (1)
2001 (2)
2002 (3)
2003 (4)
etc etc
2010 (11)

You get the idea. I'm not saying Iowa's program is more storied than Nebraska's is...but if Kansas went on to not win the conference title for the next 11 years I really wouldn't be proclaiming how awesome they are. Nebraska has work to do to get back to the prominence they were at. We'll see if they can do it w/ the competition the Big 10 brings.

Both Iowa and NU have fine programs. NU has a past that includes some of the greatest football teams in history.
Iowa has a proud tradition of sports that extend beyond football. Iowa has academics to which NU may someday aspire.
Both campuses are in extremely nice, livable cities.
NU will be a welcome addition to the B10. In my experience NU fanbase is midwest class like Iowa's.

When is Chip Brown opening up Al Capone's vault?

ArrowheadHawk 06-09-2010 05:57 PM

I pulled this from another board so I don't know if it is 100% accurate but It may be good news for Kansas.

Quote:

On Sportscenter: "I can tell you talking to multiple high level sources across college basketball and football and the NCAA, I can't find anyone that thinks Kansas would not be in a power conference. What that power conference would look like or how it's configured we still don't know...Kansas basketball is one of the more storied basketball programs in the country. It rates - it turns television sets on and that's what changes the dial with these things. They will find a home in some power conference."

Under the Big 10's format, NU would've won the conference title in '01. And conversely, who knows how many Iowa would have if the Big 10 had a title game. It's a silly comparison.
