Ben accounts for 20 million no matter what. It's signing bonus money that's already been paid out.

Looking at his contract, they could save $19M against the cap by cutting him but it would cost them $22.5M in dead cap money. So they COULD cut him at a net cost of about $3.5M.

They're OL is old and needs to have replacements, they have no RB...they have multiple key players at FA's. They're so ****ed.

The Steelers will draft Najee Harris and get back to their old identity.

I mean is that not an incredibly obvious Steelers pick/player?

Sure but it won't change their OL is shitty now, they're gonna have an old expensive QB or no QB and they'll probably lose JuJu and Dupree at the very least.

They still haven't paid Watt yet, right? That contract is going to be ****ing insane LMAO

OKchiefs 01-11-2021 11:55 AM

It's going to be fun watching the old guard retire. My hope is that New England, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, and eventually Green Bay (Rodgers probably still has more time left than the rest) all toil for multiple seasons without a clear answer at QB.

They're actually in the hole for next years cap...

Tuitt, DeCastro, Ben, Heyward, Villanueva etc are all making lots of money.

The Packers have Jordan Love waiting in the wings.

Oh I wasn’t implying that they will be fine because of it.

As a Saints fan I sometimes wonder if we are actually better off without Drew. Don’t get me wrong, he is/has been the best QB in our franchise’s lackluster history, but the Brees of the last couple of years has been great, but not elite. Would we be better off with another QB? Who knows. Right now Brees is still a top 10 quarterback, and that’s nothing to be upset about, but if you were to drop a top prospect quarterback, or a quarterback like Stafford/Winston/etc (someone who has shown promise, but just not in the right situation) could they be elevated to a top 10 status surrounded by the talent that Drew has had around him? Who knows.

As it is, we have a lot of talent, and unfortunately a lot of them need to get paid. I wouldn’t say we don’t go full abyss when Drew leaves, but unless we get the right guy under center, it could be purgatory.
