Eagle Claw

I had an eagle do that with a duck one time. After I smacked the duck and it hit the river, I sent one of my labs in after it. I see an eagle leave a tree about 200 yards away zeroing in on the duck. With the dog about 10 feet away, the eagle grabbed the duck and flew off. The look on my dogs face was priceless.

I did it ladies and gentlemen.

At 2:13 am this morning on a blue Super Fluke I landed an 8lb bohemoth large mouth.

I can die now.

Pictures to come.......

That's nothing. I found a farm pond in Holdenville , OK that hadn't been fished in forever. You had to take a 4WD to get there and even got stuck twice. I got in there and the pond had only one tree stump sticking outta the water close to the middle.
On 3 continuous casts with a buzz bait I pulled in a 10 , an 8 and a 6 .

Will remember that forever.

Got a couple new members to my casting arsenal. $15.00 for the Competitor and $11 for Mighty Might. Getting ready for four days off next week starting Tuesday for going to the lake week. Actually I'll be getting off early Monday so I can get my gear and take off. These last four weeks at work has really been a drag. Going to work 3am and pull 14 or 16 hour days 6 days in a row is a kick in the ass. I got to get my fishing fix in.

I think it's a White/Striper Bass hybrid. Note he called it a "Wiper", one of the names for them. I've only caught one before, about 5 lbs., it was one fighting SOB.

So here in a few hours I'm going set sail on a mini fishing vacation. I like taking the week off so that I can get most of the lake to myself. I'm a selfish bastard that way. I got off at 11 today and go back to work Saturday 3am.

I'm pretty stoked to get some serious angling in this week.

I got to get my gear up and stuff to get ready after working 70 hours a week this month I'm ready to get my fish ON rush.

Rasputin 05-23-2016 05:01 PM

Dang not even ready for my fishing week at the lake. After working 70 hours a week for a month and going in every day at 3am I'm just behind everything I need to get done around here let alone get ready.

I still got to clean my fish aquarium.

Fish have it made just swim and eat

I wish I wish I wish I were a fish.

I know exactly how you feel, it isnt usually a straight month unless its harvest time... but 70-75 hour work weeks are often the norm for me lately

And you're sooo right... its impossible to keep up with "life" when its like that, its hard to even eat right, the LAST ****ing thing you wanna do after a 15 hour day is spend an hour in the kitchen

This is my haul from last couple days at the lake. First night storms kinda kicked my ass but last night I did good. With my son was one of the best and memorable fishing times. Wish would have stayed another day but don't want be out there during another storm like the other night. Five channel cats a drumb and a wiper. I only took home to eat the drumb, wiper and one cat.

Holy Shit Balls yesterday turned out to be more than I bargained for when taking my cheap Walmart 200 raft out with my son in his raft out on the lake and try fishing from them. Ok we got out there a ways but not terrible that we couldn't get back. This ****ing perch I used for bait could pull me lol so then started get farther out. Weeeeeeeellllll my flippin air raft had a leak and slowly but surely was losing air and we tried to make it back to shore before it got bad.

It got bad I was in the water and had to hang on to his raft and he tried to paddle us back to shore and I was trying kick and do what I could but we drifted farther down stream and didn't even realize it. About two and a half hours of this and I was getting worried of course had no idea what time it was but wanted get back incase it stormed. Fortunately some folks in a boat from a distance heard us shouting at them and they came by and towed us back to shore by our campsite.

Holy Shit Balls that was one of the craziest experience I've had fishing.

Just glad to have life jackets on and glad we got help before it got too late.

We did have a blast though despite the storms Monday night and the raft deflation lol We had a good time my Son made this one of the best fishing time ever.

I'll say this Lake Wilson is one of if not the clearest lake in the state. Also aren't drums so cute?!

Yep, the water quality is evident in the shot where you're kneeling by the bank

You dont see anything that clear around here unless its a quarry pond, or shallower stream that runs mostly through rock... me loves those little streams that course through rocky hills

Rasputin 05-26-2016 05:50 PM

Not going complain about the storms as this morning the water level was on the rise and that gives me hope for next year.

Just as long as they don't spill the water for Nebraska again :cuss:

I procrastinated to clean my fish all day but I got er done. I cut a piece of each of the three I kept drum, wiper bass and channel cat to sample. I'm saving the fish for later when I can get some charcoal or more time to do them right.

And the winner of my sample taste test was the drum mmmmmmm yum

I liked both the cat and bass about the same but what made the drum superior was it didn't have that gamey taste to it like the other two did.

The cleaning of the drum really wasn't that bad at all if you have a scraper and scrape off the scales first. That was my first drum. The bass was easy I didn't mind cleaning that at all and the cat wasn't as bad of cleaning it as I thought it would be but I'm never a fan of cleaning cat fish.

I'm sold on the drum I want to catch more of them .

(and your right Easy6 I should have kept the other 4 cats once I started cleaning these I got on a roll. I just dreaded cleaning all of them lol)

Kick ass out there good luck.

I got to go to work 3am sucks to be me.

Next weekend I will have a three day weekend but I got to figure out what my game plan is. That first night with storms and 60+ mph winds made me have to rework everything I wanted to do and didn't get to do it all.

I love night fishing but my problem is I don't sleep much during the day because I'm fishing and want soak up all I can while I'm out there. Too short of a time going fishing and not enough time to make it out there all the time like I'd like.

What a fishing day. My dad and I hit the water about 7am and fished until 1230. It was a long fishing day with many casts in between fish. But each fish we caught was a solid fish. We ended the day with:

1. Largemouth at 3.75lb
2. Largemouth at 3.5lb
3. Hybrid striper at 2.75lb
4. Saugeye at 2.5lb
5. Large mouth at 1.5lb
6-9 all keeper saugeye from 1-2lb

The water was so clear and no wind. My lure was close enough to see one of those saugeye hit my lure twice and it continued to follow. I stopped retrieve and watched as two saugeye went after it. Nailed it right in front of the boat.

Tried to post a pic...but anyway...the bass are still on.. Last night was a hoot though. I had some old Slugo's left over from back in my Tourny fishing days. Had a never opened package of shad color 6 inch. Took then to the pond and rigged them wacky style with a Oring in middle and a weedless wacky hook. They fall way slower than the Wacky worms do and more irregular. I was in my Fishing Kayak and had a kick ass time with a medium action spinning rod. Two really nice 6 plus pounders (post spawn females feeding pretty active) and a buttload of 12-16 inch fish.

Nice job. I think anything over 5lbs is really good. I just got back from this weekends extrusion lol I don't know what to think about it. Was fun but I got issues for weekend fishing. I much rather go during the week.

Thing was people were hot and heavy to catch Walleye on Lake Wilson down by the rivers end (beginning?) It's where you don't have to pay but there is no bathrooms but I love that area and I stay all night. Problem was first thing in the morning here comes all these boats. These mother ****ers did not care about my little bank spot fishing that & throw their line in same spot as my lines are thrown. Mother **** you.

I did catch me a Walleye about 3am the other night he was huge as I could tell but when he got close enough to grab he did a barrel role and that twisted my line enough to make him break my line and I just missed from being grab ahold of him that he couldn't get away :cuss: I think he would have been one of my best fish ever too.

I ended up with only three for the weekend a nice size drum a channel cat and a Blue Channel Cat beast but not as beastly as the one I caught two years ago. I call him beast because blue cats are just mussel toned like WWE steroid super stars. lol I didn't catch a bunch of fish but these were nice I had other issues with people at the lake that annoyed the hell out of me so next time I get a weekend I'm going find other spots and have new strategy cuz I had to pack and move three times because people up in my space.

Headed out to go do an overnight float on the Buffalo River in northern Arkansas. Beautiful river, very clean and tons of Smallmouth. And, by going on a Sunday and coming back on Monday there shouldn't be a lot of other people.
By late afternoon I should be eating a shore lunch of fresh smallies and fried potatoes and onions. Hopefully I'll have some decent pics to post.

I knew this shit was going to be a pain in the Fn ass. I can't get anything to upload to photo bucket from my phone, nor will it allow me to even attach them to a post in when I go advanced. I have them on my drive and in my phone. Any suggestions?

Wish I could help, but I am decidedly non-tech savvy

General Ackbars art of war clearly states "It is called fishing, not catching'"

I bought a bass pro qualifier reel back in April. I have tried many settings to get it to cast further. It's casting distance sucks.

Bought me an Abu Garcia Revo SX in 6.4:1 today. Hoping it is much better.

You ever lose a fish that you know was going to be a big one?

Had that heartbreaking moment today. Whatever it was, took my line and ran with it. Pulling drag, bending the hell out of my rod. I had a few seconds to fight back before it spit the lure out. I must have not set the hook well.

I have been bummed ever since. I would've been pumped just to see what it was and how big before it spit it out.

Instead of fun in the sun I am stuck in the house looking at Chiefsplanet :harumph:

What is everyone's go to for largemouth?

We catch most of our fish on a Storm 4" shad. It has caught us a wide variety of fish. Has a top hook and a treble. I also like to use 3-6 ft crank baits.

This time of year I use primarily spinner baits in the shallows along weed beds early in the morning when it's cooler. Vary it with both willow blades and colorado blades and sometimes add a trailer tail for a little more action. As the day heats up I move into the deeper water in the brush piles and fish plastic worms texas rigged in the brush piles. I have had pretty good success also with a rat-l-trap in shallow to medium depth water this time of year.

I lost what i thought was the flathead of a lifetime last summer. Those fish fight different than most, similar to reeling in dead weight. It had my pole doubled over for about 15 minutes then broke 30lb braided line.

I'm sure that fish never made it out of that river and back into the Kaw alive. I'd be willing to bet that it landed on some snaggers dinner plate. I know it's illegal, but i know a few people who catch the large flatheads from lake outlets and release them into the lake. I'm not one to tell people what to do with legally taken game, but it makes me sick to see trophy fish illegally taken away to be slaughtered.

Why wouldn't you just weigh the fish?

Hog's Gone Fishin 07-27-2016 06:14 PM

God damn I want to go bass fishin. Used to go EVERY Saturday when living in Georgia, North Carolina and eastern Ok. Now in the Texas panhandle their ain't a god damn place to go within 2 hours. **** ! Been ****ed for 20 years.

threebag 08-12-2016 11:40 PM

I have been curing my chicken livers with garlic salt and anise. Toughens the liver up so you don't need thread. Works like a champ. Been catching the shit out of catfish this year.

Anybody have any luck lately? The last few times we went out, we had very little success. Caught a saugeye and channel Saturday morning. That was all we caught for five hours of fishing. The water is around 82 degrees and the moss is starting to die off. It seems most fishing reports have most Oklahoma lakes as below average fishing right now.

I did have very good success at a lease pond. Pond was covered in moss, so it was top water frogs only. Caught several decent sized. I've never caught fish on frogs so it was pretty fun. My buddy and I took a small two man canoe out on the ponds.

Gonna have to give this a try. Watched a youtube video a while back about soaking cut up hot dogs in the same thing and letting it sit around to ripen up. The guy was catching some nice ones on it.

I've got some friends that are doing well on remote parts of the Kansas river, but they all have boats.

Me? I can't even get a bite anymore. Last three trips i haven't gotten one

Had a huge flathead break my line this morning. Made up for it with a nice blue

Rasputin 10-08-2016 02:58 PM

Wow, thats outstanding... what bait did you have?

Wish I had something to brag about, but this might've been my worst spring/summer of fishing ever

My best spot is way out in the woods on a creek, there was an absolutely humongous tree along the bank that had to have been every bit of 200 + years old, this thing was like one of those California redwoods

Well during the spring, a combination of bank erosion and a huge storm knocked it down, and it fell DIRECTLY along the only part of the bank thats relatively open... it pretty much destroyed my best spot

I've been fishing that spot since i was in junior high. Caught him on a goldfish. Growing up i lived 3 blocks away from there. I love that spot. It reminds me of being a little kid.

Lip or tail hooked and still alive, or pierce it through the gut to let the blood flow?
