Is high west good? My liquor store has a bunch of it

Awesome
I’ll have to pick up a bottle |
Really enjoy the stuff from high west. Double Rye is great for the price but like the Bourye (particularly limited sighting if you find it) and Rendezvous more. Best I’ve had of theirs is Midwintersnight Dram but impossible to find for sale.

I’m not sure what all they’ve got at my liquor store I didn’t look that close. It’s weird how stuff is so different regionally. I can get some stuff here all the time and my buddies in kc can never find it and vice verse And I never answered from a while back when I had the papaya I think it was the 8 or 10 It was good but for what I paid meh |
Bourbon? Listen to Ozzy - whiskeys quicker! LMAO

Opened a bottle of Jefferson's Reserve last night to sip on while I was revisiting Lonesome Dove. I am now revisiting the Jefferson's Reserve.
|
Anyone ever had Wathen's? I feel like it's the poor man's Blanton's and much easier to get.

Got lucky enough to find a bottle of Weller Antique today and seems like Buff Trace finally increased the MSRP to the $50 range. I’m fine at that price point but it’s not the crazy bargain it was at around $30.

Finally found a bottle of McKenna 10 to add to the collection.

I'm enjoying some Jack and cokes for football Saturday Lew. Can we still be friends?

Had it 3 years ago for $25. Everything going up! |

Branch out. Evan Williams black label is cheaper and better if you’re just making shitty whiskey and Coke’s. |

Found myself a honey hole well outside of town that regularly stocks Eagle Rare, Colonel Taylor Small Batch and Straight Rye, Weller, among other hard to find bottles. |
Gonna have a few woodfords tonight
It’s my go to |

The good sippin' whiskey is fine when it's time but I'll never be too good for bar whiskey |

Different thought : you ever think of doing one of those bourbon distillery tours? |
Just picked up a bottle of Koval single barrel to try. I have been hearing good things about it from friends. Its distilled at Koval Distillery on Chicago of all places.
So I had been seeing it around in various spots at 48.00 a bottle wasnt willing to bite at that price. On a whim I went in a liquor store that opened near me but haven't checked it out thinking it was a discount smokes and liquor clone. Low and behold its a awesome store. Great selection of craft beers and bourbon. They had Toval marked on sale for 36.00 and I jumped. I am excited to try a pour tonight. Also has an awesome selection of airline trial bottles of bourbon and said he can get a little bit of everything. I like those to try out before you bite but he didnt have trial Toval. I was also told if cant find it he will try and locate at a reasonable price. |

Sipping on some door gunner. Local distillery. Good stuff.

My lord...if you haven’t tried the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, do!
|

Baby sat my 11 month old niece today and my brother brought me a bottle of Maker’s 46. It’s been a while since I’ve sipped on this delicious bourbon. I had forgotten just how much I like it.
|
Finally was able to score a bottle of Stagg Jr.

The only one I'll add is Stonehammer. If you like sweeter, very smooth bourbons, this one is great. Fantastic taste, great neat, and a splendid mixer. It's probably my second favorite Bourbon after Buffalo Trace and it's pretty dirt cheap around here. If I was going to recommend something for someone to try which is delicious, inexpensive, and not Buffalo Trace, it would be the first name off my tongue pretty much every time. |

Got a bottle of Blanton’s the other day. It’s really good
|
Try Breckinridge if you get a chance. Runs about 40 and easy on the water if you like water. It is easy to go to much just a splash will do.

I've got a bottle of Jefferson's Ocean at home, it's a perfectly good bourbon. Nowhere near my favorite, but it tastes just fine going down. |
It's a bit pricey IIRC. It's good, but for that price there are a few others i'd prefer.

Like you said, Bourbon is like wine/beer - people like different things. |

But, for the person that just has a bunch of Well bourbons sitting at home, that Jefferson's Ocean would taste damn good. Has anyone heard about their liquor store's starting to receive their allotments for the fall season? In KS/MO, store's usually start receiving the higher-end stuff around Nov 1. The store I shop does a lottery for those bottles. Hopeful to get my hands on any of the following this year: Old Forrester Birthday, Four Roses Limited Ed Small Batch and anything from the Buffalo Trace 2019 Antique Collection. I'd also take an Elmer T Lee 100 Yr Tribute if I find one. Just recently came across a bottle of Michter's 10 Yr Single Barrel and a friend gifted me a bottle of Pappy 10 Yr. |

Speaking of collections, I just realized I've never posted mine. This is what's regularly out, plus I have some spares of Blantons, McKenna, EH Taylor, Wathens and Eagle Rare stashed.

He got me a bottle of the double oaked and I have to say I like the regular better. Its a bit much, but it will get drank. |

Just saying the gimmick of aging it at sea doesn’t justify it’s price point for taste. You do you though. Drink what you like. |

I’m hitting what I have left of my 2018 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon tonight.
Shit is fantastic. |
Buffalo Trace for me tonight

Either way, very enjoyable, thanks for the suggestion. |

I'm not much of a drinker. I'm wondering if I have a potential drinking problem though because whenever I see people on TV pouring themselves a drink I have an urge to do the same. This started about a year ago when I binged the Ray Donovan show where he's constantly pouring himself some kind of whiskey.
Does this happen to anyone else? Do I need help? |

Jefferson Reserve is pretty good. Knob Creek slightly chilled is nice. I have become a fan of chilling my drink rather than using ice as it doesn't water the drink down. Knob Creek at room temp/no ice I would go with single barrel. I haven't tried their smoked maple yet.
|
Makers tonight. Gotta workout at 9am sp limiting myself to about 5 of em. Hope that's not too much lol
|
Henry McKenna 10 Year, neat.
So. Damn. Good. |
The night got away from me last night had about 9 or 10. I feel like shit but trying to rebound for the halloqeen party tonight
