There's only one thing in common with this stretch of playoff failures. The approach given to the starting QB.
It's the retread curse. |

He's played in more playoff games than Green because his defense carried him his first 4 years here. Green had the worst defense in the league pretty much his whole time here. Alex beat Brian Hoyer and the Texans. 30-0. ****, Alex could've gone 0-25 for 0 yards and we still would've won that game. Green had to face Peyton Manning and the Colts against a defense that didn't force them to punt once. And Green was fantastic in that game. Again, Smith had no losing seasons because of his defense. Green had losing seasons because his defense was so bad. Similar to what Mahomes had to deal with at Texas Tech. If Green just had a competent defense, **** even THIS YEAR'S defense, during his time in KC, he would have won alot more. Typical Chiefs, have an above average QB and dynamic offense for 5 years yet can't field an even average defense for those 5 years. |

I view him in the exact same light actually. Ok if everything is perfect. Good, but not great. Alex was mediocre longer so you are correct. I don’t hold high regard for any QB the Chiefs have previously had because they’ve never been the reason for the little success the teams have had. You are right though. Many hold that 2003 team in higher regard than they should. I’m not one. The oline was tremendous, Preist and Gonzalez were fantastic, and Trent was Alex or worse perhaps. The defense was a dumpster fire. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

There's no excuses for Alex this game. He did not play a winning style of football vs an inferior opponent. But to hold the success or failures of defenses during his time as QB, and Green's as well, as to posture your argument is inaccurate. Fact is he has performed, statistically speaking, pretty much on par if not better than Green during his time in KC. Quote:

I think a better question are Reid and Smith the people who will bring a Super Bowl to KC?
I don't think Smith is. It remains to be seen if Reid is. |

I think Reid deserves at least a chance with Mahomes. |
Andy needs a guy like Mahomes who will push the limits of being 'safe'. Not only for the sake of playcalling, but to just bring a new, aggressive mindset to the team.

But Hunt isn't going to force Reid to do anything he doesn't want and there isn't a GM between Reid and Hunt to force a change either. |

I don't see how on earth Alex can return. Sutton staying would be a sign that Reid is content with everything and not recognizing that change can be a good thing. |

But sure, there'll be your token fall-on-the-sword dismissal and it will probably be Bob Sutton. As for how can Smith return? Well, if the situation wasn't good for Mahomes to start in 2017 (suspect offensive line, bad defense, a drop off of any receivers worth anything after Kelce and Hill) ... then how is 2018 going to be any better? I won't even rehash the statistical arguments for his return because the worthless shitbird of a poster in Tigger can just do that for me. |
The two blown playoff leads have had as much of more to do with Sutton as they have Reid. Sutton needs to go for certain. His passive scheme begs teams to pull shit like what happened yesterday.
