I still don't see how some of you can actually sit through a show for 3hrs or whatever and watch the PG crap.

I can't stand it. I've tried...many many times...I end up changing channel after 15-20min.

No more larger than life characters...everything is very blah.

Characters aren't believable anymore, too much cameras behind the curtain, social media etc. Just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Thou i watch raw for a few people and smackdown cause that the A show. Nxt is great no haha segment just a hour of action. Nxt uk same thing. 205 good. Aew going to be big thou so far some great wrestlers in there.

You guys do realize that Smackdown has ALWAYS been PG dating back to 1999, right? The rating isn't the problem. It's the fact that there's a 70+ year old man at the top who has completely lost touch with what people want.

Smackdown also had world wide known superstar wrestlers and was more entertaining than any PPV WWE puts on today. Smackdown used to be a very equal Raw counterpart...now it's a JV league.

Hell even Sunday Night Heat back then was better than Raw is now.

The problem is the talent isn't allowed to create their characters or even their promos.

Don't see much wrestling anymore...

And just to add something else to this thread. About 2-years ago or so I met James J. Dillon. He was working at the state prison in Smyrna, Delaware. One of the chaplains attends church where I do and he knew I had an interest in wrestling. JJ works at the visitors entrance. He introduced me to JJ and JJ wrote a nice note and gave me an autograph. I don't know if he is still there or retired.

Even with the line-up changes, the Four Horsemen were must-see wrestling.

That's mostly because they poorly dictate who you should like and dislike.

It's the parental/viewership advisory TV rating.

Back during the Monday Night Wars/Attitude Era peak (1997-2001), the TV viewer advisory rating was TV-14...there was cussing, sexual innuendo/bitches in thong bikinis, hardcore matches/lots of blood, beer drinking/getting shitfaced was encouraged, among other stuff. It was good TV back then, usually had more viewers than MNF. This era gave us honeys like Sable, Debra, Trish Stratus, Lita, Stacey Keibler, Torrie Wilson, Terri Runnels, Ivory...and WWE made it a point to have them dress up in the smallest amount of clothing as possible..because sex sells.

With the bullshit PC culture we live in today...there is just NO WAY any of that stuff would fly today.

Hell even my parents watched it and thought it was entertaining.

Now the show is marketed to kids (TV-PG), and the stuff mentioned above is no longer shown on TV...maybe some blood during the PPV matches but that's about it. The writing and match booking is terrible, character arcs/gimmicks are ****ing dogshit, mic skills are crap because they can't really be themselves and actually talk shit..EVERYTHING is scripted and overseen by people who don't really understand the rasslin' audience. It's just all really silly-ass'd cartooney nonsense.

Territories are gone and social media/internet has hurt wrestling

Characters will never be as good as they used to be in the 80s/90's. They lack development.

Yup...the "mystique" of the character is completely gone...too many cameras behind the scenes when wrestlers are out of character...the side reality tv shows etc, and of course, social media/web.
