Probably not. I completely agree. It's kind of like the Frank Clark playoff / Super Bowl contribution take. But the case for Skyy's contribution via that punt return is stronger.

I think anyone catches Corn Dog. That punt return in the AFCCG was more defining. But I get your point.

Quick learner Rashee Rice energizing Chiefs’ offense with yards after the catch

Spoiler!

O.city 10-18-2023 09:58 AM

Yeah, dude looks like a real badass with the ball in his hands. I'm liking it alot.

We need one of these others to become an outside force.

Dunerdr 10-18-2023 10:05 AM

His acceleration is unreal. It's like first step to full speed. I love it.

AdolfOliverBush 10-18-2023 10:09 AM

I can't wait to see the training wheels eliminated. This guy is already KC's WR1, time to use him accordingly.

Rice is looking like the best WR in that draft class. About time Veach stole one.

Nacua is 100% better rn, but I do think Rice has more upside. We’ll see if Rice’s physical gifts translate into that high level of production when he’s more involved, I think they will though.

The part about Rice’s route adjustment is bonerific.

carcosa 10-18-2023 11:39 AM

I would think Rice is less likely to hit the rookie wall later in the season since he hasn't been playing a ton of snaps so far. So he'll be more developed AND fresher come playoff time.

So we now have the same receiver room we had last season, except Hardman is healthy and we replaced a slow ass JuJu with Rice. Im wit it.

I have a feeling Nacua is going to be good for a long while. His route running is lean; doesn't waste any motion or steps. Some of his breaks at the top of his routes are unorthodox, but it's been working so far. Plus, he's a big body, able to be effective underneath in traffic and has enough athleticism/large enough catch radius to make contested catches on the boundaries. If he was faster, he'd be really scary. Cooper Kupp kind of stuff.

Nagy needs to get on the stump for Rice and make sure he gets more playing time.

People need to bash Reid and Nagy in every post game interview if Rice doesn't start getting significantly more playing time, and especially taking snaps away from MVS and Moore.

If Rice doesn't play more, they absolutely need to explain why.

Maybe. It's true they've been targeting the crap out of him. But he catches the ball. And he runs timing routes/routes over the middle pretty well from the clips I've seen. Kurt Warner likes him a lot.

But we'll see who he is by the end of next season, probably.

Nice game for the rookie. Getting more involved each week and now on pace for 63 catches and 700+ yards which is close to the most any rookie has ever had in an Andy Reid offense.

Sassy Squatch 10-22-2023 06:03 PM

I wouldn’t say close, but will likely fall 2nd or 3rd behind Jackson and Maclin which is pretty good company.

He's not the fastest guy in the world over a 50+ yard sprint, but he seems to have elite acceleration in the first 5-10 yards. Love those short passes to him where he just gets up field very quick instead of dancing around like other receivers.

Yeah the 40 time nobody believed seems about right He doesn't have break-away speed but his acceleration is great. TBH it's perfect for that Juju role of quick hits and 15-30 yard-ish chunk plays. I think when they also build in some of the back shoulder stuff they got in sparingly for Juju there's at least another gear with Rice.

Bump 10-23-2023 01:01 AM

Veach wanted to fix the receiver room the same way he fixed the linebackers. Missed on Skyy, it's a hit on Rice. This dude is on his way.

He's looking like a steal for sure. He's outplaying most every rookie WR outside of a couple.

I think we all feel much better about our WR's today than in week 1. Mecole's presence alone gives them an explosive element they've simply been lacking.

It's terrifying how quickly he gets up field. You don't need any fancy jukes or moves with speed like that, just run straight ahead.

Was that the deep ball? I feel like mahomes got rid of it a bit too soon. Seemed like he was throwing it on the out instead of the up. But good to see us start slowly working in the kind of throws to rice. We haven’t even hit the tip of the iceberg of what he can do with intermediate and sideline routes.

Checks a lot of boxes. He's tall and has elite deep speed. He's been productive but he's the #2 WR on his team (Romeo Odunze is the #1) so he'll stay a little under the radar and it will keep him out of the 1st.

Imma say that he's our guy if he has the kind of platform season I expect him to have. The only thing that makes me question it is location - we really gonna take a WR from the Northwest? Then again, More was out of Western Michigan so their Southern Bias may not extend to WRs...

I'm gonna bump this one so I don't lose track of it.

McMillan got hurt fairly early on - probably going to return fairly soon. But he was as advertised early on in the season and that mid-season injury may help him slide.

Jalen would be an amazing complement to Rice.

Skyy God 10-23-2023 01:31 PM

Rice's acceleration after the catch is quite impressive. And his ability to get open, even in the red zone, makes this such a great pick by Bert. I also like his personality. Kid is softspoken and humble.

His 10 and 20 yd splits at the combine were in "elite" territory. His vertical was in the same category. Sometimes that testing stuff doesn't translate to the field of play, but with Rice, it actually does. You can really see the explosiveness.

yeah and you can also see his limitations with that 40 time. Not that I'm complaining, just saying he has elite burst and if he had that next gear he might have been a top ten pick.

You can see him get to that top speed so fast and then just kind of cruise there. He's a walking talking Relative Athletic Score

They interviewed him on 810 and he was talking about seeing an opening in the zone and "playing football" as he called it on the TD plays, but I took it as "playing football" means he adjusted the route to settle into the hole in the zone. IIRC he did the same for his first TD too. He sounded like an intelligent humble guy. I think we got a good one with this guy.
