Should be interesting next year. No one cared about women’s basketball before Clark. With her leaving it will be interesting to see if they build on this or if people go back to not caring. Genuinely curious if this is all Clark or not.

Clark played really poorly in that final quarter. Got stripped at least 4 times and kept fruitlessly driving to the basket with no real chance at scoring

She realized her teammates weren’t gonna give them any chance to win that. Heroics were the only thing that could have kept it close.

I love college bball but one of the nitpicks is there isn’t a lot you can do when the other team has an extreme size advantage because of recruiting. Props to Iowa for gutting through it. Im looking forward to seeing tomorrows game where at least the monsters can be sized up

kcpasco 04-07-2024 03:16 PM

That was the 1st women’s sport I ever watched from
start to finish. SC was just the better team. Good job from Iowa but they were just outclassed.

LOL. True we are talking about I can't win my first one without running off and try to join a superteam. Half of his 4 titles were on that superteam. The one that was the most impressive to me was 2016.

Also, this "stats" argument needs a little context. Lebron has played 21 season with at least 82 games played. MJ played 15 years. Within those 15 seasons, he only played 3 games in the 85-86 season and only played the last 17 games of the 94-95 season.

UChieffyBugger 04-07-2024 03:21 PM

BWAHAHAHA DID MS AMERICA CAITLIN CLARK JUST LOSE ANOTHER FINAL TO ANOTHER "DEI" TEAM AND COACH? SAY IT AIN'T SO?!!! ROFL

Smugness aside congrats to Clark on her unbelievable career and best wishes to our fellow chiefs fan at the next level.

South Carolina are the Chiefs of women's college ball. They had to overcome the previous superpower in Uconn to get to this point in their run. Was very nervous for them when they started off slow but class prevailed in the end. I knew iowa couldn't overcome the rebounding and depth advantages.

Also big respect to the whole tournament. I LOVE IT and will be following it year I can. It's just better than the men's game and next year should also be good. Juju's team will be better and so will Paige's. South Carolina will be super strong aswell as many of the players who just won today will be back next year.

It’s a small gripe but man, that schedule was bs. Iowa went through the gauntlet while South Carolina cleaned up against pee wee league teams. Made for great basketball but it felt a bit like the tourney was designed to make sure we saw the best primetime matchups

For the first time in my life at nearly 61, I watched a women's Final Four game. That's the impact Caitlin Clark has made on the sport.

Was fun to watch. Those women played even better than some of the men's games. Really enjoyed.

chiefzilla1501 04-07-2024 06:51 PM

Maybe I’m just getting older but I think the reason clark connects is because she’s kind of just a professional doing her thing. Her and Paige and juju kind of answer questions in a very mahomes way. Charming and engaging but very polished. Understandably women’s athletes have typically had a chip on their shoulder but to me it reached a point of entitlement where they were forcing people to like it.

That and, as I’ve pointed out before, these 3 players to me and Flau’jae on lsu are just more fluid athletes than we usually see. Maybe there are more but I only really started paying attention to these teams in particular the last few weeks. Like, South Carolina was a very good bball team but to me it’s kind of the same boring brand of basketball that feels a little herky jerky for my liking.

Just kind of a weird bitterness from WNBA players that feel entitled to the same level of money and success the guys get.

Meanwhile, this next generation of players take the sport by storm, are professional every step of the way, and people are shocked to find that viewers prefer that way more than being shamed for not liking their boring version of basketball.

Honestly that was a terrible question to ask her after winning a NC. Her hesitation makes me think she does not agree with it, but realizes that she has to pick her words carefully, especially in the environment in which we currently live. Perhaps she should have taken a stand, but it was still a stupid question from the reporter.

She was dropping dime assist that her teammates were missing layups. That being said, put Clark on the SC team and they win every game by 30. Clark could shoot and even a miss would most likely be rebounded.

KobesPilot 04-08-2024 08:04 AM

The executives at ESPN need to be ****ing slapped for putting some god awful podcast on during the game, then slapped again, and then robbed at gunpoint for zooming in on their faces like that.

chiefzilla1501 04-08-2024 08:40 AM

Uconn played way better defense on Caitlin than South Carolina. They played her decent but this was 100% about sc having a supporting cast that had an absurd size advantage. Offense can only be so productive with zero second chance opportunities. Also doesn’t help to get brutalized two days after a slugfest while the other team is able to rotate with a deeper bench. Iowa really never had a shot but they put a hell of an effort.

Itll be fun to see clark play with some offensive help down low which she’ll get in Indiana but also not having to play a full 40 minutes every single game.

Agreed. She did have a monster game, but there is no denying that her scoring dropped after the first quarter. Does not excuse her team letting her down. I said yesterday that she was easily the best player on the floor, but she was not better than the SC team.

Yeah shooting logo 3s can only go so far if you can’t get a single offensive rebound. Their only chance was to go super fast in transition and get into the paint before SCs size could get there. Or else have Caitlin work twice as hard to get off shots that are twice as improbable or else put a lot of effort to get a good shot off.

That was their demise. They needed to slow it down and take wiser shots.

Do you think having transgenders compete against women to be not a big deal?

It’s sports so no, I don’t think it’s a “big deal”.

I don’t agree with the coach’s comment (truthfully I don’t think she was being genuine either) and yet I’d never say she “threw EVERY woman athlete under the bus” lol it’s the type of ridiculously dramatic speech that makes Twitter a cesspool

I don’t know… I feel like slowing the pace down just feeds into a bigger team. Kind of like tonight where you know Purdue is gonna want to slow down and uconn will push the pace. Iowas gotta hit their transition layups. And can’t make crucial mistakes like affolter made towards the end. A half court offense here seems like it puts even more pressure on clark to make even tougher shots.

While both can be true, if you're not hitting your fast break shot the first time, and nobody on your team to make the rebound, you're it's basically a turnover and you ain't gonna win that way against that team. Needed to take more high percentage greater guaranteed shots.

And a shout out to Stulke - I think she played a marvelous game down low. Thought she would get hammered by the bigger girls. Impressive.

It's a big deal that the female HC of of the women's championship basketball team is scared to say that women's sports should be for women only, and it truly speaks to the fact that it's 100% a cult.

Like a Supreme Court justice pretending she has to be a biologist to define what a woman is, it speaks to a much broader issue in our culture, and your inability to see that speaks volumes.

When objective reality becomes THIS controversial, there's absolutely a problem, and it's 100% a "big deal".

People still think it’s bearded men dressed as women and not years of hormone therapy to suppress hormones that your body makes.

LMAO

Imagine thinking that this makes somebody a woman and that they should be allowed to participate in women's sports.

I didn't realize you were actually in the cult too. Wow.

People still think that all that hormone therapy can never turn a man into a woman. And I’ll be damned…they’re absolutely right. I’m in favor of protecting women’s sports from being invaded by mediocre men.
