The comments on that page are hilarious. It's always the same 2 scenarios for the Big 12 apologists.

aTm and/or Mizzou struggle in the SEC? Ha ha. I told you you would be bottom feeders in the SEC.

aTm and/or Mizzou thrive in the SEC? Ha ha. I told you the SEC wasn't that good.

Prison Bitch 12-20-2013 03:17 PM

But Missouri has shown it can hold its own in the SEC, too.

Lulz, how long will this myth go on? They're 9-8 so far. 0-7 vs top 20 SEC teams, while their wins were over teams with a 22-50 record. The only teams they "hold their own" with are the crappy ones.

You can look at the records if you prefer. Each team plays 8 SEC games.

9 wins x 8 games = 72 results. Opponents finished 22-50.
8 losses x 8 games = 64 results. Opponents finished 52-12.

There is a pattern in there but you have to look real close.

It was a rhetorical question. Nobody cares what a jilted KU trying to lessen what Missouri has done this year thinks.

Sassy Squatch 12-20-2013 03:51 PM

Seriously. Anyone who spends his Saturdays googling Nebraska athletics attendance does not hold a valid opinion.

Saul Good 12-20-2013 04:35 PM

Still trying to find a good out of conference win for any team in the entire Big 12. I've only gone back two years, though. If anyone can find a single good win, please let me know.

You seem to invest a lot of time into the Big 12. The SEC is interesting too...

The bolded is incorrect and is a bold faced lie. Georgia was ranked #7 when MU won in Athens, Florida was ranked #15 when they lost in Columbia. A & M was ranked as well, but I cannot recall if they were #18 or #23 when they lost to the Tigers.

And those were just their poll rankings....I am sure the computers probably had them ranked higher.

Good win or bad win is up for debate, what is not up for debate is the fact they were ranked #15 when they played MU, and were still in the conference race. Just because they imploded after getting bitch slapped by the Tigers does not change the facts.

Big 12 with another win over the SEC as Oklahoma has little difficulty taking care of Texas A&M.

SEC basketball should be euthanized.

In other news, our Kansas City Chiefs and Mizzou had eerily identical seasons. No?

Well, if the Chiefs make it to the AFC Title Game and finish one game short of the Super Bowl, then yes, that would be similar to Mizzou's football season.

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing the majority of Chiefs fans would be okay with that result.

Saul Good 12-22-2013 06:57 PM

How many national championships has the SEC won in the last 25 years?

Prison Bitch 12-22-2013 06:57 PM

Hilarious stuff Bardt, lulz. The Chiefs would have to win two huge games against good teams which already invalidates the comparison. You know, since Mizzou had zero such wins.

TomBarndtsTwin 12-22-2013 07:00 PM

So BCS National Championship is not equal to Super Bowl in comparison?

Interesting.

Why do you keep discounting the wins Mizzou had against opponents that were ranked when they played them? Other than you're just a trolling reerun, that is.

TomBarndtsTwin 12-22-2013 07:09 PM

It's just hard for PB to acknowledge that Mizzou was one strong 4th quarter away from playing for the National Title this year.

You know, something Kansas could have experienced in 2007, if not for getting their shit pushed in by Mizzou on national television for the whole nation to see.

(Now respond with obligatory "we've won a BCS bowl game and you haven't" post)

kchero 12-22-2013 07:11 PM

So beating a ranked aTm doesn't count as a good win?

TomBarndtsTwin 12-22-2013 07:25 PM

Don't you know?

There were ZERO good wins by Mizzou this season. They did not beat any ranked teams on the road. They did not win the SEC East. They were not down to Auburn 45-42 going into the 4th quarter of a play-in game for the chance to play for the Title.

None of this actually happened. Nothing to see here. Move along . . . .

Nobody cares anyway. In football, kids want to play in the SEC. The prestige of the conference helps all of the schools recruit. Kids don't get excited about playing basketball in the Big 12 as opposed to playing in the SEC or PAC or whatever.

Bambi 12-22-2013 09:36 PM

All the major conferences have at least one undefeated team (Big 12, PAC, B1G, ACC) except for the SEC which has 0.

Actually I doubt it. Sure they had a down year with barely any experience and poor offensive play calling... But it's still a more talented roster than normal and next year they will have some experience and chemistry. Not to mention this years recruiting class is continuing CPR trend of each class being better than the last.

I don't know about any of that. But I do know KU out-earned Mizzou by $100 million the past 7 years per D.O.E. filings I cited earlier. We can all argue how it's split up between football, basketball, and Saul's favorite women's volleyball. But in the end KU blew your doors off in summary.

It's been a great year for local sports teams.

KSU pulled off the Big 12 trifecta winning the conference championships in baseball, basketball, and football. Mizzou won the SECE. Royals had a winning season. Chiefs made the playoffs. SKC won the cup. Kansas won a conference game.

Hopefully 2014 brings more of the same.

Watching the king of the big 12 Texas get worked over by Oregon I think they might be right.

The PAC 12 has some strong football programs and might be better than the big 12 overall
